Visa on arrival by air and land different?

Thai Visa Stamps

A question regarding tourist visas: If I go into Thailand by air and get a 30-day visa and then go out the next day to Cambodia, does the 30-day visa I got expire because I left Thailand? I am asking because I will return to Thailand from Cambodia by train a week later and would like to stay for 3 weeks will this be a problem? If the first visa of 30 days is still valid then no problem?

A 30-day stamp under visa exemption scheme shall expire once you exit the country. Should you re-enter by land, you will only get a 15-day stamp. Unless, if you will travel back by air, then you will be able to get another 30-day stamp in Thailand. However, since November 1, 2013, seven countries namely: USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Japan can re-enter Thailand by land or air and will automatically receive 30-day stamp.

I am an Indian Passport Holder. I will be travelling to Thailand via road from Malaysia and return to Malaysia in three days. I have return flight ticket from Malaysia. Also, India has now been exempted from Visa. Can I enter Thailand through land.

You can enter Thailand through land, but you will be limited to doing it only twice a year.

My husband and I will arrive in Bangkok from the UK by air, stay for three nights and then travel to Cambodia by bus.

We will be returning to Bangkok for our return flight more than 30 days later, again arriving by air from Hanoi. We plan to stay another few nights in Bangkok before our return flight to the UK.

What visas do we need to obtain? Do we need to get visas before we arrive?

    Many thanks.

If you are both holding UK passports, you may use visa exemption on both trips. You will be given 30 days entry stamp when you arrive in Bangkok from the UK and you will be given a new 30-day entry stamp when you enter Thailand from Hanoi.

Hi! I will be doing a course/internship in Thailand for 30 days and plan on entering by land from Malaysia. I’m Canadian, will I receive a 30-day visa on arrival? And if I wish to continue traveling Thailand afterwards, can I apply for an extension or leave and return by land again for another 30 days?

    • June 27, 2018

Canadian passport holder can enter Thailand under visa exemption for 30days.
If you will cross the land border, you will get 30 days and this is allows you to enter twice in a calendar year.
If you wish to extend your 30-day entry, you can go to the Thai immigration office and apply for extension. You have to pay 1900THB for 30days extension.

If I come into Thailand by air from Myanmar and then exit the same day to Cambodia by land. And will enter from Cambodia by air, will stay 1day at Bankok, and will come back to Myanmar.
In that situation, Do I need to re-entery stamp at the Thailand Cambodia Border?

    • June 13, 2018

Myanmar passport holder can enter Thailand under visa exemption for 14days only via International Airports only.
If you exit the country by land, it will be fine.
If you comeback by International Airports, the same rules applies. You will get 14days entry visa exemption.
However, if you will enter Thailand via land border, you need a Tourist visa.

For Show money, you can bring 10,000THB per person or 20,000THB per family.
Bring also your return ticket and hotel accommodation.

I am going to Thailand to do a yoga course which lasts for 35 days. I leave on the 8 June. I was under the impression that I would get a visa at the airport and have just found out that Iwill only get a visa for 30 days. WOuld I still be allowed to enter Thailand and then leave and go across the border and then reenter?

    • June 5, 2018

If you are going to stay longer than 30days in Thailand, you can either apply for an extension at the Thai immigration office and you will get another 30days stay. The extension fee is 1900THB. You can also cross the nearest land border or fly out and comeback and get another 30days upon entry.

    Hello,

I will be flying to Thailand from either Bali or Vietnam this March for my Honeymoon. We have never traveled to South East Asia before and are Canadian citizens.

Will we be able to get a Visa Upon Entry in Thailand? Or are we required to get a Visa prior to departing Canada?

    • November 3, 2016

Depending on how long you will stay in Thailand, you can either enter without a visa or apply for a visa before traveling.

Based on your passport, you can enter Thailand for a maximum of 30 days without a visa. However, if you are staying in Thailand for more than 30 days, you can apply for the 60-day tourist visa from the Thai embassy or consulate near your location in Canada.

    • October 14, 2016

It is a rule of Thai immigration that you must have at least 6 months remaining on your passport validity to apply for a visa on arrival. In this case, you might not be granted the visa based on your passport validity.

On april I stay already 25 days then in May I stayed 10 days and in June stay 10 days again. I am plannng to go back to Bangkok by the end of June again and maybe stay for 8 or 9 days then go back Jakarta. Do I need tourist visa or still can use visa exemption during arrival in airport? Thank you

You may enter on visa exemption if you are able to satisfy the requirements once you enter through immigration. However, please note that your entry on visa exemption will depend on the immigration officer who will review your documents.

Thank you for helping with my question. Does visa on arrival apply to children as well if they travel with other adults instead of parents? My 10-year-old daughter is going to visit Thailand for a 10 day school tour organised by her school. My daughter holds a Chinese passport. Thank you.

    • March 25, 2016

All Chinese visitors regardless of the age must obtain the visa on arrival or a pre-approved visa from the Thai embassy. The fee is 1000 baht for the visa on arrival.

    • February 8, 2016

The passport validity requirement is at least 6 months in order to be permitted to travel to Thailand. Therefore, we recommend that you apply for a new passport prior to your upcoming trip.

Dear sir, I can’t find out my question and answer on the list. My question is about a tourist visa with a single entry. A couple of weeks ago I travel to Thailand and arrived at the airport and immigration law officer noticed that I was not having enough fund. I was later sent back to my country the next day without letting me entry the country.

Can I return back to Thailand with the same visa, because I will likely wants to visit that beautiful country for tourist purpose and stay for two weeks with enough fund this time.

    Raphael from Cameroon.

    • November 30, 2015

If the immigration officer at the airport in Thailand did not put a stamp on your passport when you first traveled here, then you will still be able to travel to Thailand on the same visa. This is, of course, provided that the visa is still valid.
