Visa on arrival by air and land different?

Thai Visa Stamps

A question regarding tourist visas: If I go into Thailand by air and get a 30-day visa and then go out the next day to Cambodia, does the 30-day visa I got expire because I left Thailand? I am asking because I will return to Thailand from Cambodia by train a week later and would like to stay for 3 weeks will this be a problem? If the first visa of 30 days is still valid then no problem?

A 30-day stamp under visa exemption scheme shall expire once you exit the country. Should you re-enter by land, you will only get a 15-day stamp. Unless, if you will travel back by air, then you will be able to get another 30-day stamp in Thailand. However, since November 1, 2013, seven countries namely: USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Japan can re-enter Thailand by land or air and will automatically receive 30-day stamp.
