    Dear Mr. Rex
How many days does it take to cancel COE process after registering?
I found after 15 days, it will automatically cancelled. Once I request to Thai Embassy, how many days it takes to cancel COE to apply a new application.

    Best Regards,
    Danny

    • March 19, 2021

      Dear Danny,
Yes, you are correct that it will be automatically deleted after 15 days. However, you may contact the Thai Embassy handling the COE application to cancel or delete it without having to wait for 15 days.
      Thank you.

    Good morning Rex.
I already registered type of student (Parent/Guardian) to get COE.
But to visit short term and trip, I though it would be easier to go (exempt) Medium Term visitor. qu
To cancel prior process on COE, I called Thai embassy. Representative replied that it is required high authority approval or waiting 15 days to cancel automatically.
I asked Embassy staff to cancel ASAP based on high authority approval.
In this case, would it be possible to cancel immediately? Yesterday I applied in this way. But not received any reply from Thai Embassy.

    • March 19, 2021

      Dear Danny,
For the Thai Embassy and consulates in the US, you may request for it to be deleted. However for other countries, I recommend for you to get in touch with them and explain why the application must be deleted.
      Thank you.

    • March 18, 2021

      Dear Graeme,
Yes, it is ok to transit in Singapore as long as the SIN-BKK flight is an accredited flight to enter Thailand.
For the application of COE, you do not need bank statement. On part 1 of COE application you only need passport, visa with re-entry, copy of wife’s ID, marriage certificate and COVID 19 insurance.
For the part of application, you need ASQ hotel and the flight.
      Thank you.

    Dear Rex,
    Good day.
I have uploaded the insurance and passport copy, and completed the application on 15/03 under visa exemption scheme. Will the approval of my registration be received by email or do I need to check the result of application on COE website? As per COE website, I can save the information of flights, ASQ and Bank statement once the we get the pre-approval. How long should I wait for pre-approval of application?

    Thank you.

    • March 18, 2021

      Dear Karma,
You will receive an email stating the application has been pre-approved. You will get it within 3 days After that, you will go to the website and upload the flight and ASQ bookings. The final approval, you will also receive by email with the link for the COE.

I applied for the COE online and the first time it gave me an error page. I tried again and when I submitted the application the screen said it was ‘being considered’. I tried a third time and got the same message. I have not received an email confirmation of my application like my partner did.

    What should I do?

    • March 16, 2021

      Dear Jennifer,
What you can do is to use the “forgot the 6-digit code, click here” button in order for you to get the 6-digit code since your application has been submitted already.

My boss’ father passed away in Bangkok a week ago and he would very much like to attend his father’s funeral probably to be held in Bangkok on 6 – 9 April 2021. Would you please advise if there is any quarantine exemption that he could travel to Bangkok directly for his father’s funeral instead of going through the 14-day quarantine? Any information regarding this matter would be much appreciated. Many thanks for your prompt assistance.

Your boss can enter Thailand under visa exemption of 45 days and he just need to apply for the COE. He will still be required to undergo mandatory quarantine of 2 weeks. At the moment, there is no information for reduced quarantine days.

    • March 15, 2021

      Dear David,
      Good day.
The STV cannot be issued inside Thailand. It is only issued by a Thai Embassy, as we know, there is no Thai Embassy inside Thailand and Thai Immigration office in Thailand is not allowed to issue it. It can only extend it.

    Dear Rex,
    2 Questions:
-> I will be flying in from China to Bangkok.
    1) I found these 2 online insurance service providers for Covid-19 coverage. As the purchased insurance policy will be mailed via email, are they legit and acceptable by Thailand Embassy for COE application and acceptable when departing from China/arriving in Thailand? Or it is preferable to get one coverage from Local China insurance company?

    https://direct.axa.co.th/TA-Inbound/CoverageOptionPlan?utm_source=Agent_Partner&utm_medium=Direct_SiamLegal&utm_campaign=Sawasdee_SiamLegal

    2) Many hospital in here do not issue “Airworthiness health Certificate (Fir to Fly) / Travel health Certificate”. If yes, the format and wording could be different form the standard template requested by Thai Embassy. What’s my alternative? Local Thai Embassy has yet to provide solution or recommended Hospital to get the fit to travel medical certificate.

    Many thanks Rex…….

Once approved and issued, they will send over to me here in China to start the next process. Please advice how should i proceed with the Thai embassy in China? and IF there is an approved travel agent in China who you can recommend.

      Dear Huat,
      Good day.
I believe your company in Thailand is getting the WP3. Once they have it and send it to you in China, you can apply for the Non Immigrant B visa and eventually apply for the COE online. For the Non Immigrant B visa application I recommend for you to call the nearest Thai Embassy to guide you on the process. For the COE application (after you receive the visa), you can do it online and you can read the article on this page for the instruction or guide.
      Thank you.

      Sorry Rex,

      One other question,

Does it matter if I have applied for my COE and put United Kingdom as travel destination but I actually fly from Dubai?

And the travel date does it matter because I put it for the 10th but I might fly on the 8th for example.

      Thanks.

    • March 3, 2021

      Dear Karan,
The COE Thailand is only valid for the flights stated in the COE. So if you intend to fly from Dubai to Thailand, you must apply for COE in Dubai. If you intend to fly from UK to Thailand via Dubai, you must apply for the COE in London.
      Thank you.

    • March 3, 2021

      Dear Karan,
If you intend to use visa exemption, then you must choose the correct category. You must choose number 11- MEDIUM TERM VISITOR- VISA EXEMPTION. If you choose this, the questionnaire will not ask for copy of visa, rather it will ask for the EVIDENCE for the visa exemption such as bank statement and return flight within 45 days.
      Thank you.

    • March 4, 2021

      Dear Billy,
      Good day.
If you chose to have your COE Thailand issued in Dubai, you have few considerations. Will your flight be departing from Dubai, will you be staying in Dubai for a couple of days prior to the trip and obtain the COVID 19 test in Dubai?
If you will have your test in Afghanistan, it is better to get it in Afghanistan/Pakistan Thai Embassy and it is quite fast in issuing the COE.

I’m hoping to come to Thailand on the 45 day visa waiver – I’m from UK but live in Dubai so I’ll be applying through the Dubai embassy online.

My question is – if I wish to travel on 23 April what is the earliest date I can start the application process? I ask as I keep seeing references to a 15 day window but I’m not sure what this window actually is. I’d like to get everything sorted as early as possible but don’t want to find that I only have 15 days to fly when I don’t want to travel until 23 April.

    Regards,

    Ian

    • March 3, 2021

      Dear Ian,
You may apply for the COE as soon as you have the ASQ hotel, flight and the insurance arranged. The 15-day period people are talking about is the 15-day window period for the applicant to upload the flight details and ASQ after they have passed the first stage or the pre-approval stage 1.
If you apply now, and you got pre-approved on stage 1, you have 15 days to completed the stage 2.
I have a client travelling in April who got the COE in already.
Please remember to choose the correct category: (11) Medium Term Visit- Visa Exemption

      Dear Alex,
The COE will be checked when you board your flight. Therefore it must be issued by the Thai Embassy that has jurisdiction of the airport where you are flying from. For example, if you are flying from Istanbul, you must get COE from Thai Embassy in Turkey.

      Dear Drew,
The Fit to Fly certificate is valid for 72 hrs before the flight. Therefore it is important to obtain it within 72 hrs before your international flight.

    Hi Rex,
    It’s mandy again.
I am still a bit confused for “further consideration documents”
I know that a passport copy is needed (i will enter under visa exemption), and a medical insurance copy is needed during the pre-approval process.
However it says the flight ticket and ASQ hotel can be booked after the application is pre approved, so for the “further consideration” attachment , should I still need to purchase the ticket and have the hotel reserved in advance and upload the evidence?

    • February 25, 2021

      Dear Mandy,
In order tog et approved for visa exemption, you MUST demonstrate that:
1.You have enough funds for the trip—Bank statement
      2. You will only stay within 45 days—return flight
I hope this is very clear now.
      Thank you.

      Dear Max,
      Good day.
If you are in Dubai right now, you must apply for the COE using Dubai Thai Consulate. You must re-apply for the COE and it does not allow you to do that, you must call the Thai Consulate in Dubai directly.

The COE Thailand will be issued by the Thai Embassy in Italy or Seychelles. The application is 100% done online. You do not need to be in the UK. You will upload the documents and the COE will be issued through email.

    Hi Rex
I am hoping you might be able to help me with a couple of questions.
    1. I’m hoping to travel to Thailand in July, so I believe I would only need the 45 day visa, is that correct as I have a British passport?
    2. I understand the need to quarantine on arrival for 15 days, but does that come out of my 45 day travel visa, so meaning I only have 30 days to spend in Thailand, or would I still have 45 days?
    3. I have read that the Thai government maybe relaxing the rules in the future, if the traveller has had 2 COVID vaccinations before travelling, which I would have had by my travel date. If I booked an ASQ and then it is not needed, would I be able to get a refund on the ASQ stay?

    • February 24, 2021

      Dear Nick,
Thank you for your comment. Please see my answers below:
      1. Yes, that is correct. You will be given 45 days under the (11) MEDIUM TERM VISITOR-VISA EXEMPTION category when you apply for the COE.
      2. The quarantine is 15 days and 30 days for you to spend traveling around Thailand, so the total is 45 days. Then, you are allowed to extend the visa exemption for another 30 days in Thailand.
      3. There has been proposal where the vaccinated travelers may be allowed to enter without the need for quarantine, it might happen on the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021. I would recommend for you to book an ASQ that asks for 10% downpayment such as Courtyard by Marriott. At least, if the time comes that you do not need an ASQ, you can use that 10% payment to spend in their room, perhaps for couple of nights. Please check their details here: https://www.thaiembassy.com/asq-hotels/courtyard-by-marriott-bangkok
      Have a good day.

      Hi Rex

Thank you for your answers, and you are doing a brilliant job. I just have a few more questions for clarification please:
1: If I know my to stay is to be over 45 days and have booked my return flights for later than that, because I want to extend my visa for an extra 30 days, will I be allowed entry into the country?
2: Can I extend my visa after I leave ASQ, or do I have to wait till the end of the 45 days?
3: I am assuming that the extension can be done at any immigration office, and a decision is given then?

    • February 24, 2021

      Dear Nick,
      1. In order to get the COE or Certificate of Entry to be approved, you need to have an exit flight within 45 days. You can book a “dummy” flight which you can cancel or modify the exit date later on once you are already in Thailand. You need that flight to be able to enter Thailand as well.
      2. The COVID 19 insurance you nee to buy is 60-day insurance which covers the 45 days.
      3. You will extend once you are halfway through the 45 days.
      4. Yes, the extension is done at the provincial immigration office and the issuance of the extension will be on the same day also.
      Thank you.

Hi, I am just filling in the COE (final approval). I fly Manchester-Doha-Bangkok.
The first section about flights is asking “Last port (Before port of arrival in Thailand)” I read this as asking the last airport i was in before BKK which would be my connection in Doha. My partner thinks its asking for Manchester as this section is not in the Transit flight section of the form. What do you think?
Then in the Transit section does it want every flight number listed? the wording of the questions i find a little confusing as it asks for “originating port” but transit to me means my connecting flight not original. Think im making it more complicated in my head here!

    • March 5, 2021

      Dear Jane,
You will provide DOHA and BKK in that sequence. And you will put the Doha-Bangkok flight number.
For the transit part, you will put the flight number of Manchester to Doha.
      Thank you.

I have received my COE and all of the paperwork, but because I missed my first flight I was forced to reschedule. I rescheduled my flight and quarantine hotel and contacted the Thai embassy in Chicago who told me that because my new flight was within 72 hours of the original flight I did not need nor would they provide me with an updated COE. I also emailed them before I had this conversation with the embassy but never received a reply to this email. Since the embassy told me my paperwork was in order I proceeded to fly from my departure city of STL USA. Upon arrival in Incheon Airport in Korea the Korean Air agents saw the discrepancy in my COE and did not allow me to take my final flight to Thailand. I have contacted the Thai embassy consulate in Chicago and they said they will issue me an updated COE but I am afraid they want an updated covid test and fit to fly certification, however this is not possible inside the airport and I am not authorized to leave the airport. I have now been stranded inside the airport for 24 hours and the 72 hour window for my covid test and fit to fly certification is about to expire and the consulate in Chicago is closed because of the weekend. My newly rescheduled flight from ICN to BKK is scheduled for Tuesday night and no flights are available Monday. *Has my time in Incheon been a layover and if so would this mean my covid test and fit to fly certification (taken only about 12 hours before my first flight from the USA) are still valid?* It is impossible to get new ones inside the airport and I am very worried that Korean Air will again deny my boarding due to these issues. Any help or clarity you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Stranded in ICN

      Dear Jared,

Yes, ALL PEOPLE arriving in Thailand will be required to have the mandatory quarantine. The visa on arrival for Indians, Chinese and other countries under that category are required to apply for the 60-day TR visa. For those under Visa Exemption such as UK, US etc, they can get 45-day visa exemption stamp at the airport as long as they possess a COE or certificate of entry.

    Hi,
You might want to update your website so as not to confuse people. For the question

“What are the Requirements for the COE?”

Your answers are incorrect. The only requirements now when filling out the online form are copy of your passport and the health insurance purchased. There is no need to have ASQ Hotel booked or flight booked. Only after you get a COE approval would you go on to book the hotel and flights. Thanks.

    • February 11, 2021

      Dear Jumus,
You are definitely wrong. The copy of passport, copy of visa and insurance is needed for the REGISTRATION. After the registration, if you got pre-approved, you need Flight details and ASQ Booking for the TRAVEL CONFIRMATION part. Both Registration and Travel confirmation stages are part of the COE application.

My bad, I wasn’t specific to what I am doing which is visa on arrival. I am only staying for 30 days and therefore on the form I pick Medium Term Visitor – Visa Exemption. Obviously with a visa on arrival there is no way at any point to upload visa information as it’s only provided by immigration after I have landed. This is clearly marked on the COE website. I verified this yesterday when talking to the Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

    Hi Rex,

I appreciate what you’re doing on this site…keep up the good work!

On 1/20/21, I received an email from my consulate-general (Chicago, USA) informing me that “Your registration/application for COE has been confirmed.”

On 1/21/21 another email informed me that “Your registration/application for COE has been approved.” Twenty-two minutes later I received another email stating, “Your travel confirmation has been received.”

I have uploaded all necessary docs (visa & passport photos, ASQ confirmation, flight confirmation, medical insurance, contacts in Thailand, etc.) and I have a six-digit code. When I go to the website ระบบลงทะเบียนคนไทยที่จะเดินทางกลับเข้าประเทศ (mfa.go.th) and enter my passport number, name, and six-digit code to “Check the result,” I get the message, “Waiting for approval. Your application is under consideration.”

I believe I have provided all necessary documents for the COE, and it has been over 6 working days since my last email notice. But I do not have a final approval for the COE.

Is this going to take a few more working days? Should I contact my consulate-general at this time? I would hate to pester the consulate-general because I know they are very busy. I am thinking it will take 15 business days in total, so maybe I must wait 10 more working days?

I’d appreciate any insights you have for me.

    Take care,
    John

    • February 2, 2021

      Dear John,
The reason for that could be, the consulate will issue the COE 3 to 5 days before your flight. They have done that in one of my clients before. However, using the COE portal, they should issue it within 24 to 48 hrs after you have submitted the travel details or second part of the application.

    • February 11, 2021

      Dear Franky,
You may call the Thai Embassy and apply for the STV. You may ask them to cancel the TR visa and apply for STV. The process for the STV may take a couple of weeks.

I applied for the coe and have submitted all documents including ASQ booking and Flight information. I finished submitting all documents more than 10 days ago. When I check my status it still says waiting for approval. I an getting nervous. My flight is February 10th. I started the process nearly one month before my flight and still do not have the COE.

Do you have any advice? Should I call the embassy?

    • January 30, 2021

      Dear Aedan,
Yes, you should call the embassy or email them if it has been more than 3 or 5 days from the time you uploaded the documents. Are you on the first or second part already? The second part will take longer to get approval so please call the embassy first week of February.

My flight is Tuesday, Feb 2. I applied for STV visa and it has taken so long but it was finally approved yesterday by the Royal Thai Embassy Washington DC. I received an email saying they were mailing my passport back with the visa.

The email said to apply for the COE as soon as possible and I did but it was rejected saying that I need to reapply and upload a valid visa. I used the email from the embassy saying my visa had been approved. I guess they need a photo of the visa even though they are the office that issued it?

How long will it take to get COE from the embassy in DC once I receive my passport back?

    Thanks!

    • January 28, 2021

      Dear Justin,
Yes, you must upload a photo of your visa as soon as you get the passport. The process for the COE in Washington DC is normally around 2 to 3 days.

    I was thinking to

    – upload the visa from the old passport in the section “additional documents for consideration”
    What do you think?

    Best regards Christian

    • January 27, 2021

      Dear Christian,
If that is a domestic flight only that has changed, it is not a problem because COE is not needed when you take the Dusseldorf to Frankfurt flight. You only need COE for the Frankfurt to Bangkok flight. Why did you put the domestic flight in your COE? The embassy would only put the internationals flights (including transit) in the COE.

    Hi,

How could I use the option to quarantine at the listed ALQ hotels in Phuket? It seems that there’s only one option to fly in Phuket from abroad once a week starting from 23rd of Jan-2021 from Moscow, according to the published list of semi-commercial flights…. Or could I fly to Bangkok and take a domestic flight from there? Though most domestic flights depart from DMK and all international flights arrive to BKK… Or are all these ALQ hotels in Phuket waiting only for Russian tourist?

    • January 10, 2021

      Dear Jane,
      Good day.
Please be advised that you cannot take a domestic flight from Bangkok to Phuket without doing a quarantine in Bangkok. If you wish to do the quarantine in Phuket, your international flight must land in Phuket. Or perhaps your ALQ hotel in Phuket can arrange a private jet to get you from Bangkok down to Phuket after arrival.
