Passport

The entry prerequisites differ based on the passport type you are holding for travel.

Ensure that your passport has at least six months of validity upon your arrival in Thailand.

Other Entry Requirements

Immigration officers at the Thai border may request to see a ticket for your return or onward journey, as well as evidence of adequate funds to sustain you throughout your visit. Failure to present these documents may result in denial of entry.

Plane Ticket and Thai Visa Entry Stamp

I just wanted to make sure, if I’m quarantining, I need to make sure my stay doesn’t exceed the visa exemption period. Which airport is the best for non vaccinated travelers?

Hi, I live in Hong Kong and I have a French passport, I am fully vaccinated (3 doses with the last dose taken 3 weeks ago).
I have a flight, on 16th July, from Hong Kong to Reunion Island via Bangkok with a transit time of about 13 hours in BKK.
I understand that the Thailand Pass is now no longer required and the Insurance optional, but I read online that in order to transit in Bangkok I need to have a SINGLE itinerary/ticket….. I have booked both flights separately (2 different airlines) therefore I have TWO itinerary/ticket.
Do I need to go through Immigration and “enter” Bangkok or can I stay in the Transit area?

I am travelling to UK from Yangon, lay over in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport in July. I have two children, 10 years old and 2years old. I am viccinated but my children are unvaccinated. Do they need any test at that age?
If yes, can it only be PCR-RT, or are any alternative tests accepted?

Any requirements for transit passengers in Phuket?

    • June 9, 2022

      Hi Zhanna,

If you will transit in Phuket and your last destination was outside the country (Thailand), you only need covid insurance.

      Thank you

    Hi,

I will transit in Bangkok for a night and have booked accommodation outside of the airport terminal. Other than my vaccination certificate, do I need to provide any other documentation?

Is travel insurance mandatory to enter Thailand?

I will be staying with my family, not in a hotel. When applying for a Thai pass what do I enter for the hotel information?

    • June 9, 2022

      Hi Amonratana,

You can put the address where you will stay in.

      Thank you

      Hi Silvia,

For layover, you need covid insurance and incase children below 6 years old will do saliva test and not the normal nasal swab.

      Thank you

If I have recovered from Covid, do I still need to buy a travel insurance covering Covid-19?

    • July 21, 2022

      Hello May,

If you plan to travel this month or onwards, you don’t need a travel insurance. However, for your safety and security we do recommend to purchase an Insurance for your travel in Thailand.

To check the price or purchase the COVID 19 Travel insurance, please visit: http://www.siam-legal.com/axa-insurance

      Thank you.

    Hello,
I am planning a trip to Thailand.
I would like to know if with two doses of the vaccine I can enter Thailand without quarantine.
I took the second dose on 10/20/21.

    Thanks

    • July 21, 2022

      Hello Enrico,

You are considered fully vaccinated if 2 doses of a vaccine against SARS-Cov-2 have been administered at least two weeks before traveling.

      Thank you.

Children of any age will not be required RT PCR test if travelling with vaccinated parents, is this right

    • May 18, 2022

      Dear A R,

Yes, that is correct. Children below 18 years of age can apply for No Quarantine Thailand Pass together with the parent. if the parent does not need an RT PCR test, so are the children.
      Thank you.

What they don’t tell you is that you must have the QR code, pcr test and insurance even if it’s just a layover in Bangkok. Otherwise you can’t even get on the plane. with zipair at least. Absolute BS.

    • June 9, 2022

      Hi Tiki,

If you will just simply layover, no need for Thailand Pass just travel insurance with covid medical coverage minimum of USD 10,000.

      Thank you

      Hi,
I am traveling to the UK with transit in Bangkok airport in July, from Myanmar. I have one 2 year old child and one 10 year old child, both unvaccinated. I assume that the 10 year old needs a COVID test. Does it have to be PCR-RT, or is any other type accepted?
For the 2 year old, is a test required?
One more question: my wife and I have the Sinopharm vaccine. I want to double check, is proof of our vaccination enough, or do we also need to take a test before traveling?

    • June 30, 2022

      Hi Cho,

If adults are fully vaccinated, your children may enter with the same procedure with you as well. Just bring vaccination certificate.

      Thank you

Have the requirements for using sealed flights for international travellers to get to Koh Samui via Bangkok been withdrawn from 1 May 2022?

    • April 28, 2022

      Dear Susan,

If you are fully vaccinated, the sealed flight will not matter anymore. As soon as you land in Bangkok, you are free to travel anywhere.
      Thank you.

My Thai girlfriend and I are resident in the Middle East and travelling together to Bangkok. Are we allowed to book one hotel room (for couples) for the one day stay at the approved hotels?

    • March 31, 2022

      Hi Sam,

For this issue, you need to contact the hotel for an info. Some hotels allow couples to stay together but some don’t.

Hi, to ensure my understanding is correct.
    1) i do not have to do pre-departure pcr to go bangkok , upon arrival have to under go pcr on day 1 and atk on day 5.
    2) for test and go approved hotel, there will be people fetching us from the airport right?
    3) i can stay just one night under the test and go, then for the rest of my trip i can just switch hotel right?

    • March 26, 2022

      Dear Daphne,

      1. Yes, you are correct. You do not need a RT PCR test before flying to Thailand but you still need RT PCR test when you arrive in Thailand and ATK test (you do on your own) on Day 5.
      2. Yes, the Test and Go Hotel will arrange the airport transfer. You can book using http://www.siam-legal.com/agoda
      3. Yes, after you receive the negative test result, you can leave the hotel and stay in another hotel or a condo or AirBnB.
      Thank you.

    Hello,
I am booking a trip to Koh Samui with a stop off in Bangkok. Will it be fine to get two separate flights on the same day? One being international from London and the other being domestic to Koh Samui.

Also, would I have to book the covid hotel in Koh Samui?

I am slightly confused by the rules.

    • March 15, 2022

      Dear Toby,

No, it is not allowed. You need to have a sealed flight from BKK to Samui using the Bangkok Airways flight PG51xx. Your sealed domestic flight must be included in the same ticket as your international flight.
      Thank you.

Hey! Quick question. If I get the Thailand pass, can I travel freely through Thailand? I know I have to stay in a special hotel on the first and fifth day. But can I stay in Bangkok for the first day and then travel to Koh Samui and stay in a special hotel in Koh Samui for the fifth day? Or do I need to start the whole process over if I go from Bangkok to Koh Samui?

    • March 15, 2022

      Dear Max,

Once you have a Thailand Pass, you can enter Thailand on the date specified in your Thailand Pass. When you arrive in Thailand and undergo the 1 night Test and Go, you will be allowed to travel or freedom of movement after you receive the negative result on your RT PCR test on Day 1. You do not need RT PCR test on Day 5. You will do a self-test on Day 5. You can stay in Bangkok for 1 night and after that you can go to Samui. In Samui you can stay in any hotel.
      Thank you.

Hi, are you considered fully vaccinated after 2 doses or do you need 3?

    • March 15, 2022

      Dear Ben,

Having two vaccinations is considered fully vaccinated as long as the second dose is within the last 12 months. If your 2nd dose was more than 12 months ago, you need to have a booster at 14 days before coming to Thailand.
      Thank you.
