Tourist Visa for Thailand

(Updated December 21, 2021)

Thailand has closed all its borders in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in most of 2020 under the invocation of the Emergency Decree. At present, Thailand has opened the country to foreign travelers and tourists. Now, fully vaccinated travelers, both Thai and foreigners, are allowed to enter Thailand without quarantine under the Test and Go Program or the Phuket Sandbox Program. However, the mandatory quarantine of 10 days is still required for both unvaccinated travelers and 14 days for those traveling from African countries.

I’m an American and I hold a work permit as an international school teacher. I also have a Thai wife and daughter in Thailand. I have a few questions.

    1. I am wondering how long it takes to get the COE once I get the fit to fly certificate, and also if they are able to process this over a weekend? 72 hours is not a lot of turnaround time, and I’m afraid of the fit to fly expiring if they don’t give me the COE in time.

    2. My daughter is half-Thai and will be travelling with me on a Thai passport. I have been told that she is exempt from the health insurance requirement. Is she also exempt from having to pay the massive ASQ fee?

    3. Currently we have a scheduled flight on Cathay Pacific that lands on 2 August in Bangkok. Will we be allowed to take this flight, or do we have to have an official repatriation flight organized by the consulate?

    • July 2, 2020

      Dear Jason,
It depends where you are applying for the Certificate of Entry. I think in the US, the fit to fly certificate might replace the certificate of entry or the embassy can issue it at the same time. For the quarantine, Thais can qualify for free quarantine but foreigners needs to do the paid quarantine. In your case, she is a minor so she has to go with you in the paid quarantine. I think you will be able to fly in August as long as you get the certificate for you and your child from the Thai Embassy in Washington DC. I see that they have an online application already:

      Thank you.

    Hello ladies and armies

I am currently in Phillipines / Cebu
And currently there is since yesterday 01.07.2020 for 11 groups again the entry to Thailand.
“Non-Thai nationals who are spouses, parents or children of Thai nationals.”
I currently have no visa for Thailand and I have read that you have to report to the Thai Embassy and you have to take a return flight back to Thailand.

I have a Thai son living in Thailand but no current visa is it possible to enter with Visa on Arraivel and then make a paternity visa in Thailand?

If so, what documents do I need to confirm my son?

    Best regards

    • July 2, 2020

      Dear Benjamin,
You need to get in touch with Thai Embassy in Manila and obtain the non-immigrant O visa for having Thai child and certificate of entry to Thailand.

    • July 2, 2020

      Dear Saebra,
At the moment, you do not belong to the priority list as we call it. I recommend to patiently wait a bit longer once the government issued the new list of groups to be allowed in August 2020. Thank you.

      Dear Marc,
Yes that is correct. if you are travelling to Thailand on Thai passport, you can sign up for repatriation flight at the Thai Embassy in Copenhagen, given that you can travel alone as a minor. You ight need a parent or guardian to travel with you.

    Hi Rex,

I am a university student in London and I am not a Thai citizen, but my father has been working in Thailand for the past 10 years. I do not have a visa for entry into Thailand because my dependent visa expired at the end of last year. According to the announcement made, which includes families of work permit holders to enter Thailand, am I eligible to apply for a short-term tourist visa?

I have contacted the Thai Embassy in London numerous times and they give me no information and say that visa services are suspended till September. I am not able to properly get in touch with anyone. Any guidance from you would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

    • July 1, 2020

      Dear Shilpi,
Yes, it is correct that family members of foreigners who are working in Thailand are allowed to enter Thailand given that you secure the non-immigrant O visa and certificate of entry issued by Thai Embassy.

Are there any requirements for nationals for returning home from Japan?
(ex. Health Certificate, PCR results etc.)
Are there any requirements for nationals upon arrival to Thailand?
(ex. medical check-up, rapid test etc.)
    Will they be under quarantine?
If yes, where and for how long?

    Thank you.

    • July 2, 2020

      Dear Mihoko,
I am not sure if the returning nationals are Thais or are they non-Thais? There is a quarantine for long term visa holders and no quarantine for business people invited by the government. For more information about Thai nationals and foreigners returning to Thailand, please call the Thai Embassy in Tokyo.

    • July 2, 2020

      Dear Olga,
      You have 2 options:
      1. You can wait for the borders to reopen so that you can continue doing your 90-day exit and re-entry.
      2. You can ask the employer of your husband to extend your non-immigrant O visas inside Thailand.
I do not read and understand Russian but I hope this answers your question.

Would local Thai Embassy will arrange the flights after I Submit the documents for my visa and COE with case to case basis? I Would greatly appreciate some clarity with the flight details.

If your wife is a foreigner, you will still qualify of your wife has a Thai work permit and non-immigrant B visa or if you have a foreign child, your child must have a non-immigrant education visa. Hello,
is there any news of possible Visa (double entry) extension after the July 31st? I’m a Canadian currently stuck here in Hat Yai, Thailand to be exact. I was suppose to fly to Australia (working holiday visa) by August 4th, now that’s not happening no more, since the whole world is closed for all International flights. Thankfully the Thai government gave us an automatic visa extension til July 31st. Will the government do another visa extension? I am willing to pay. Since there are no flights I can’t get anywhere outside of Thailand . Borders run will be impossible since buses are not fully working 100% on route and health risk possibilities from covid-19 . Any information in this matter, is greatly appreciated.Thank you .

Do you also know when WP3s will be issued again in Bangkok?

    • June 30, 2020

      Dear Patrick,
It depends on the location of the Thai Embassy or consulate. Some Thai embassies are now issuing the certificate of entry and the non immigrant business visa. Some embassies are not processing it due to the fact that the country the embassy is located still implementing closure of the foreign embassies. At the Bangkok, the WP3s are issued by Bangkok Office to certain applicants. It is a case-to-case basis.

Right now, we just have to wait what will be the travel restriction or lifting of certain restrictions month by month. We cannot predict what will be the requirements to enter Thailand in October. Dear Steven,
Having a villa or condominium in Thailand allows you to apply for the non-immigrant O visa from Thai embassy in your location. However, this Non Immigrant O visa is not one of the valid visas allowed to enter Thailand in July. The type of Non immigrant O visa allowed for July is based on having Thai family or based on having a family member who is working or studying in Thailand. Please see the updated list here:

    Hello

I live in Belgium and I’m planning to travel to Thailand in the end of july. I have a Thai passport and Thai ID, do I need to follow the 14 days quarantine rule?
    Thank you!

    • June 29, 2020

      Dear Hatsa,
As of today’s information, yes, Thai people returning to Thailand will be required to have a fit-to-fly certificate from Thai Embassy in Belgium and also required to undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days. Thailand has zero local transmission of COVID-19 but there is a number of Thai nationals from abroad who were infected by COVID-19 hence the requirement for quarantine. Thank you.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Tessfu Geteye originally from Ethiopia but now I am in China. I completed my study here in China and want to return back to my country Ethiopia. It is well known that no need visa for Ethiopian to enter Thailand and currently there are several available flights from Thailand to Ethiopia. Since there is no fight from China to Ethiopia directly now. I plan to fly from Shanghai to Thailand then through connection flight to fly into Ethiopia via Ethiopian airlines.

Last year I fly in this way, please tell me that is it possible at this time?

Thank you in advance for your information.

    • June 29, 2020

      Dear Tessfu,
The visa on arrival has been suspended until September 30, therefore you cannot use it at this time. In order to enter Thailand you need to obtain certificate of entry from Thai Embassy in China. Thank you.

I have multiple entry non-immigrant B visa and I have visited Thailand numerous times before the lockdown. I would like to visit Thailand for 5-7 days for business meetings in mid-July or August. Will I be able to do so and is there a way I don’t have to be in 14-day quarantine? What are the documents I have to prepare apart from what mentioned above on the website? Please advise.

    Thank you.

    • June 27, 2020

      Dear Kris,
For short term business people, they may opt not to have a mandatory quarantine, but that is still under consideration. It might happen in August. For business people who wishes to come in July, I believe you will be required a mandatory quarantine. Please call the Thai Embassy in your country for more information.

    • June 27, 2020

      Dear Vincent,
Having an invitation from your Thai girlfriend will not make you qualified for the Non-Immigrant O visa. For normal visitors to Thailand, you may need to wait until September 2020. We have to wait for the government announcement.

You need to apply for non-immigrant ED visa from Thai Embassy in India if you want a student visa for your child. If both of you already have a non-immigrant O visas as dependent, please wait for further announcements by Thai government when you will be allowed to come to Thailand.

    • June 26, 2020

      Dear Aye,
It really depends on the documents of your new employer. If their documents are good enough when presented at the immigration office, then you can switch from tourist to a non-immigrant B visa. Please ask your new employer if they have the capacity to change your visa without leaving Thailand. Thank you.

Please get in touch with the Thai Embassy in your country to learn more about the procedure of securing Certificate of Entry to Thailand and you may ask them to know when will you be allowed. • June 26, 2020

      Dear Howard,
To get a certificate of entry, you need to apply for it at the Thai Embassy in Bern. Perhaps they have a checklist on what you need to submit. At the moment we do not have any information on what is the procedure for getting the certificate of entry based on having a Thai wife. It might help if your wife calls the Thai Embassy and inform them she is interested about repatriation flight. They might accommodate her and then you can ask about the Certificate of Entry for the foreign spouse.

      Dear Kenny,
I regret to inform you that having a Thai girlfriend or fiancee does not qualify you in having a non-immigrant O visa. It is reserved only for foreigners who are legally married to a Thai national.
You may want to apply for the certificate of entry under a different category such as business or medical purpose and contact the Thai Embassy in your current location to learn more about applying for the certificate of entry.

There is no guideline as to the period of the policy. It is best to check with the Thai Embassy that will provide you the certificate of entry.

      Dear Marlin,
Only foreigners who have Thai spouse or children are allowed to enter for now. Hopefully in August, the spouses or children of the Non immigrant B visa holders will be allowed into Thailand. My other recommendation is apply for ED visa for your child and Non-immigrant O visa for yourself. I think students are allowed to come in July as per the news.

      Dear Ron,
Returning back to Thailand is subject to availability of the issuance of certificate or entry from Thai embassy in the country where you will be coming from, availability of the flight and availability of accommodation for the state quarantine. These are the factors you must consider before you leave Thailand and you cannot be sure if you can re-enter as a lot of people holding different visas are waiting to enter Thailand. Please check with your school that they must do it inside Thailand.

At the moment, Thailand is slowly allowing foreigners to enter Thailand. They are allowing foreigners per group. The first group are the foreigners with Non B visa and work permit. The next groups are those with Thai family, business people and medical tourists. Third group are those from China, Japan and Korea only. So we can assume that maybe in August or September, other group will be allowed.

Company contacted to the labour office in NakhonPathom but it is informed that they don’t provide any kind of letter at this time. Company inquired to the office in Bangkok, but it is also informed that they don’t issue the letter.
Is it correct i need a WP3 and is there any way but wait if the labour office don’t issue the letter?

Thank you for your time and information.

    • June 24, 2020

      Dear WS,
Yes, it is correct that some provincial and even Bangkok office of the Ministry of Labour are not issuing the WP3 because this WP3 only have a validity of 30 days. Since there is a travel ban in place and some airlines are not flying to Thailand, if they issue this WP3, it cannot be used anyway and it will just expire. So once they Ministry of Labour sees that there are flights from Korea to Thailand and The Thai Embassy in Korea is open for Non Immigrant B visa application, the Ministry of Labour can issue the Wp3.

    • June 23, 2020

      Dear Rik,
To be honest with you, I do not see any possibility of exiting Thailand to nearby country and return after 1 day to be happening anytime soon. This process may happen next year. As for you, you have until July 31 to arrange a flight back home, that was the purpose of the visa amnesty, to give you enough time to arrange flights to your home country. If you had plan to stay longer in Thailand, you should renew your Non B visa and Non O visa before July 31. If you are still employed, please ask your employer to do this.
      Thank you.

    • June 23, 2020

      Dear Fari,
The problem right now with the foreigners is that they cannot enter Thailand even though they are valid Thailand visas because of the travel restriction implemented by Thailand. There are thousands of foreigners who are stranded in their home countries and they cannot return to Thailand due to the fact that Thailand only allows 500 people to enter Thailand per day. If this will continue, then there is a possibility that you will not be able to re-enter Thailand in August. The problem here is not about you having a valid visa. The problem here is the capacity of Thailand to handle state quarantine for the foreigners coming into Thailand. As you read in the news, for July, only those with valid Non immigrant B and work permit and those with Thai families are allowed to enter Thailand. Students are not in that group just yet. So if you leave Thailand, you are at risk of having to wait until students or non-immigrant ED visa holders will be allowed back into Thailand. You can do as you plan, but it is a risk that Thailand may not allow you in to Thailand in August because they have to prioritize the business people and those with Thai families. Thank you.

    • June 22, 2020

      Dear Larry,
If your daughter is Thai, you may apply for the Non-immigrant O visa and enlist yourself at the Thai Embassy in Washington DC in case foreigners with Thai family are allowed to enter Thailand in July.
If your daughter is non-Thai, you may have to wait until normal foreign tourists are allowed to enter Thailand.
      Thank you.

    Good Day,

I’m an American Citizen with a booked flight to Thailand for August 3rd. Is it correct that I cannot currently obtain a tourist visa? Or are there any steps I can do ahead of time? Thank you so much!

    • June 20, 2020

      Dear Andrew,
If are referring to the the visa exemption stamp, at the moment the Thai government has not made any announcement about the entry to Thailand for regular tourist. Based on the news it might be in September. As for a 60-day tourist visa, you need to check with the local Thai embassy or consulate in your country if they have resume the visa application. Thank you.

    • July 1, 2020

      Dear Farkas,
Entering Thailand in July does not have an option to self-quarantine. The only option for the foreigner is the mandatory ASQ with one of the hotel accredited by the Ministry of Health.

Yes, the foreigner with Thai spouse can contact the Thai Embassy in his current location and apply for the Non Immigrant O visa. He also must sign up for the waiting list since there is a proposal that Non immigrant visa holders with Thai spouse or family will be allowed to enter Thailand in July.

Hi, Im filipino and working here in thailand for 6yrs and now I am going back to philippines due to I dont have work as of now and I am on call and anytime I will be back here in thailand. Now my problem is my visa. My visa will expired on July 31,2029 and our HR told me that they will renew for one month first and next is one year. They advice me to wait before I go back to Philippines. My question now, is it possible to extend my visa for one year in advance before I go back to philippines?

    • June 17, 2020

      Dear Chris,
The employer is correct. It is better for you to renew the visa (1 months probation stamp + 11 months extension) before you leave Thailand. The reason for this is that, if you will not have a valid visa for your return, you will not be able to come back to Thailand. It will be very difficult to come back, you might be able to come back end of the year if you won;t have an existing visa. If you are still employed by your employer, they can extend it now and after you get your 1 year extension, with re-entry permit, then you may travel back to the Philippines. Thailand might now allow people from the Philippines to enter due to the risk of bringing COVID-19 to Thailand.

Is it possible to renew now and get the re-entry so that I can go back to the philippines soon? The reason is I applied for repatration back to philippines and Im just waiting for our flight. Thank you

    • June 17, 2020

      Dear Chris,
Next week would be a good time to start the renewal of your visa. Please note that there is a 1-month probation period, which means, you will have the 1 year visa and re-entry permit next month. However, if you already have a flight for the Philippines, you can proceed with that but you may have a difficulty when you return back to Thailand in August if you do not have an existing visa.

    Thank you.

    • June 17, 2020

      Dear Martin,
The WP3 are still being issued by Bangkok Labour Office. All you have to do is ask the Thai company that is sponsoring your application to obtain this for you and then they have to send it to you and use it within 30 days. The reason why some offices are not issuing the WP3 is that there is a travel ban and this letter has 30 days validity only.

    Hello Rex,

I hope a slightly different question, I have read all the other posts.
My son (18) is a dual national thai/british (He has a thai passport and ID). He has been offered sports trials in July/ August. I am also his agent. He will need me over there to get him to and from and to negotiate any potential contracts. Like others have found, trying to speak with anyone at the embassy at this (or any) time seems impossible. Just wondering what, if any, options I might have to make sure he doesn’t miss this opportunity. I understand tourist visas are likely to be on hold for sometime, is it possible to come via one of the proposed “bubble’ countries, or do you know how I could potentially obtain a work/ business visa? That is essentially the purpose of the trip. Many thanks

    • June 13, 2020

      Dear Tom,
      Here is our suggestion:
If your son will be travelling to Thailand on a Thai passport, he can apply for the repatriation flight. You as his guardian can travel with him on a Non-immigrant O visa. Then both of you apply for the certificate or entry to Thailand from the Thai embassy in the UK. I have read reports that some foreigners were allowed in repatriation flights with their Thai spouses. Both foreigners and Thais will undergo mandatory 14-day state quarantine after arrival. Please contact the Thai Embassy to arrange the application. Thank you.

      Hello Rex,

Thanks for your considered reply. I managed to speak to the embassy here and they said its not possible to travel at this time on an O visa and said that nobody has, so I am not sure which countries may have allowed this to happen.
      Any other suggestions?

    • June 17, 2020

There was a repatriation flight from London to Bangkok and a British husband was able to travel with his Thai wife. Perhaps it depends on the Thai Embassy where the flight is originating.

    • Tom
      June 30, 2020

      Hello Again Rex,

Thanks for your assistance so far. I am in London and the embassy categorically denied that any foreigners have been on the repatriation flights from London. I have to say they are not overly polite and certianly not very helpful.
I was told today that it would be impossible for me and my son (Thai) to quarantine together. It was suggested that he would have to wait for a place on the repatriation flight and I would have to fly separately once he is in Thailand. Its infuriating as I have paid for my covid test and had other expenses and now told this. I was told to call back as they can only advise me about today, not the future!! Makes it hard to make plans about anything. They said they have not had an update from the government regarding July. They keep telling me there is a quota on arrivals so my son cannot fly with me independently of the repatriation flights, but will not say what the quota is!!
Its a stressful, emotional time for so many people and the lack of empathy from embassy staff here in London is very disappointing. It would be good to know if we may be able to fly and quarantine together. There are daily flights from London via Qatar and other indirect routes, from the 1st of July, so I am hoping that we will be able to travel together.
As ever any advice is most gratefully received.

    • July 1, 2020

      Dear Tom,
We are sorry for your experience. • June 13, 2020

      Dear Leif,
Thank you for contacting us at Siam Legal. Yes, the travel ban is until June 30, however, next week, the government will announce if this ban will be lifted, modified or extended. As for the foreign tourists, an high ranking officer has stated that Thailand may open to tourists on the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year. Therefore, we recommend that non-immigrant B and non-immigrant O visa holders will have a better chance in entering Thailand in July or August.

I am currently in Cambodia and need to go to Thailand so my friend can help with accommodation as most businesses in Cambodia are closed and it’s getting difficult to keep our heads above water here. I am a South African. Do I need to apply for health insurance of 100 000usd? Seems a bit steep given the current economic situation. Does the medical insurance apply to all or do people that are already in Asia not have to get this insurance?

    • June 13, 2020

      Dear Claire,
The current entry requirements that has been implemented and stated by the Thai government are for foreign diplomats and foreigners with work permits.
The government has not stated yet, if tourists will be allowed in July or Augusts and what would be the entry requirements. It is too early to speculate the requirements for the tourists. Some reports say that tourists will be allowed in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year. That the priority first are foreigners with work permit and non immigrant B visa, then next group will be marriage visa or retirement visas. For now, we just have to patiently wait for the new announcement by the government. Yes, we can assume that 100,000 USD COVID-19 health Insurance may be required for a tourist to entry Thailand.

      Dear Hetal,
At the moment, we cannot tell you when will the visa services will open. The Thai Embassy in every country operates on a different manner. Some Thai embassies are now open and some are not. It depends if the country where the Thai Embassy is located still have a high numbers of COVID-19 local transmissions. If the Thai Embassy in India are now issuing non immigrant B visas, you may expect that the application for Non immigrant O visa will be open in 1 month or two.

As we know that foreigners with work permit or non immigrant B visas will be allowed to enter now and in July. However, the second group of foreigners such as marriage visa and retirement visa holders, we are not sure when will they be allowed to enter Thailand. It could be in July, August or September. Also, the government has not announced what will be the requirement for entry in August, whether COVID-19 health insurance is required and if mandatory state quarantine is required. The situation is still changing and as we know the Thai government would normally announce the new rules a bit later. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Will I be required to isolate on my entry ( only coming for 18 days) ? Obviously there will be no point for me if this is the case. Also can my wife go straight to her village or would she have to isolate in Bangkok too . Again if so then there would be little or no point in using our flights just for 3days in Khonkaen. If this is the case we will need to re book our flights for next year . I understand this is an unpresidented time but wondered if there is any information yet on opening up for tourists as I would be travelling as a tourist . Thanks

Yes, you will be required to have a mandatory quarantine in Bangkok for 14 days if you enter in July. I recommend for you to contact the Thai Embassy in London to know more on how you can get the certificate of entry to Thailand for your flight in July. Thailand is expected to open its doors to foreign tourists in the third or fourth quarter on 2020 so for you to come as tourist in July may not be possible, unless you are returning to Thailand with a long term visa. My wife and step daughter are Thai nationals with PR in Australia. Thai Airways cancelled their holiday flights back in April and they are under the impression that they cannot currently travel back to Thailand because they hold PR in Australia and they believe that the only Thais allowed back on repatriation flights are temporary visa holders in Australia. Is this correct, and if so, when do you think they might be allowed to travel back.

    • June 9, 2020

      Dear Quentin,
Thank you for your message. If your wife and stepdaughter wish to return to Thailand and they both have Thai passports, they can return to Thailand. They can contact the Thai Embassy in Canberra to check if the embassy has arranged special flights for Thais to be repatriated to Thailand. Please know that everyday there are only maximum of 500 Thai nationals allowed to land at Bangkok airport from different countries so maybe the special flight from Australia is limited, so they have to check with the embassy first to know when will be the next special flight. Thank you.

The question whether they are able to enter Thailand, that would depend on two factor: first factor is the availability of flights in case the travel is lifted and second factor is the issuance of certificate of entry to Thailand that they must also apply at the Thai Embassy in Manila. Right now, based on the website of Thai embassy Manila, they only issue it to Non immigrant B, IB, D and F visa holders. Thank you.

Hi! If my friend will have a flight LA-Taipei-Chiang Mai where in Chiang Mai he have to stay for quarantine? Please share the list of
    Hotels
In Chiang Mai? Also if he is renting apartment can he stay for quarantine in his own apartment in Chiang Mai?
    Thank you

    • June 9, 2020

At the moment, we do not have a list of ASQ Hotels in Chiang Mai. Only the ones in Bangkok that is available to us. The quarantine as stated in the MFA notification is mandatory so it is not a home quarantine. May I ask if your firend already apply for the Certificate of Entry from the Thai embassy?

Hi Rex! But if my friend’s ticket will be from LA to Chiang Mai does he need to stay in the quarantine station in Bangkok or in Chiang Mai? If in Chiang Mai are there any hotels to stay for quarantine there? If he is renting his own apartment in Chiang Mai is it possible for him to stay in his apartment for 14 days quarantine?
    Thank you.

At the moment we do not have information for hotels or if self-quarantine is allowed. All we know at this time is the state quarantine in a government facility or the ASQ which are accredited hotels.

Good day, can one enter Thailand on a retirement visa before 30 Jun on an organised SAA repatriation flight?

    • June 9, 2020

As per notification of the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first group of foreigners that may apply for the certificate of entry are those who are holding a work permit. The foreigners holding a valid retirement visa may have to wait a little longer until the government announces the next batch of qualified returnees. You may check with Thai Embassy in your country to keep updated with the requirements. Thank you.

    Dear Sir / Madam,
I bought my flight ticket to Bkk a little comfortably for July 3, after I received information from the Thai aviation authority that the borders will be open to tourists from July 01.
I would like to ask, can I enter Bkk as a tourist at this indicated time and under what conditions?
    thanks, Regards

I will be relocating to Thailand with my two dogs. Is there a website with the needed entry requirements?

    • June 11, 2020

      Dear Michael,
Right now, this page has the requirements for entering Thailand in June and July 2020. For other group of foreigners such as relocating to Thailand or foreign tourists, the Thai government has not issued the new guidelines for these groups. We have to patiently wait for that to happen. Should you wish to know your visa options for relocating to Thailand, you may contact us at [email protected] We would be glad to assist you. Thank you.

    Hi,

May I know if I can apply WP3 from Labour Office (new applicant) now and where? I need it for Non-B application in Taiwan before travelling to Thailand. And if I can obtain Non-B, can I enter Thailand in June? how to get the flight? I need to work on July 1st.

    Thank you so much

    • June 8, 2020

      Dear Ray,
Yes, your Thai employer can still apply for the WP3 at the local labour office in the city or province where the company is located or registered. Once you have this letter (WP3), you can use it to apply for the Non-immigrant B visa and use it also for the application of Certificate of Entry to Thailand. Thank you.

    Hello,
Is the Thailand government issuing non-immigrant visa (using which one can enter the country and thereafter apply for work permit)? If not, any idea when the government will start issuing non-immigrant visas again?

    • June 8, 2020

Yes the non-immigrant B visas are being issued by the Thai Embassies abroad, those that are open for visa processing. Some Thai embassies may be closed due to COVID-19 situation in that country.

    Hello Good day!

I would like if I am allowed to enter in Thailand ot Can I get Certificate of entry. I have an appointment in Embassy of Sweden in Bankok.I need to go there for my interview of my VISA application.

    Thank you

    • June 7, 2020

      Dear Karen,
Our recommendation for you is to obtain a non-immigrant Business visa from the Thai embassy in Manila. This visa is for urgent business travel and not employment as most non immigrant B visa are issued for. You can apply for this visa and the certificate of entry to Thailand at the Thai Embassy in Manila. You can show the Thai embassy your interview appointment with sense of urgency. Please know that you will still undergo a mandatory quarantine for 14 days before you can go to the Bangkok city and for the interview.

    • June 8, 2020

      Dear Baljeet,
At this moment, there is still a ban on international passenger flights. There is no timeline yet to lift the ban, but when it happens, foreigners will need a valid visa, certificate of entry, fit to fly certificate, and they must then do a 14-day mandatory quarantine on arrival at the government facility. Thank you.

    • June 6, 2020

      Dear Aidan,
Yes, the Thai government is issuing new WP3 from Labour Office in Bangkok(if your Work Permit has expired while outside Thailand) that you will use to apply for the new non immigrant B visa (if it has expired also) at your local Thai embassy as well as issuing the Certificate of Entry to Thailand. Thank you.

    Good morning,

I intend to apply for my immigrant B visa as I have a job to get to in Bangkok but I need an immigrant O Visa for my accompanying spouse. Will this be allowed?

    • June 9, 2020

      Dear Ceris,
Yes, you may apply for the non-immigrant B visa from the Thai embassy and the non-immigrant O visa for your family. However, you also need to apply for the certificate of entry to Thailand if you wish to enter Thailand in July for example. At the moment, non-immigrant O visa holders are not yet qualified to apply for this certificate of entry so they may have to wait a bit longer until they are allowed to apply. Thailand is is not opening its door in one time, it is a slow process and we just have to wait patiently. Thank you.

Any information about students? I have a program that suppose to start at the end of July. Can we apply for our ED visa by then?

    • June 5, 2020

      Dear Samantha,
You may contact the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your current location to know more about applying for the non-immigrant ED visa. Please know that even though they may issue the visa, they may not issue the certificate of entry to you since you are not qualified to enter Thailand just yet. Thank you.

    Hi,
When tourists are able to return to Thailand, are we required to get a certificate of entry, fit to fly certificate and proof of health insurance?
Or can still travel with just a passport and proof of health insurance? If so, what is a certificate of entry and fit to fly certificate? Thank you so much!

    • June 5, 2020

      Dear Tim,
At this time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and Ministry of Public Health has not announced the entry requirements for foreign tourists. Also, there is no mention on when will the tourists be allowed to enter Thailand. We still have to wait for further announcements. This page will be updated regularly as we get more information. As of now, only foreign diplomats and foreigners with work permit can apply for the Certificate of Entry to Thailand from the local Thai embassy. Thank you.

      Hi

How dies a businessman enter Thailand? I am coming to interview Thai companies for possible investment by us.

If I have APEC card can I be accepted?

    • June 29, 2020

      Dear Dave,
You will contact the Thai Embassy in your current location and you will apply for the Certificate of Entry. This is what you need to present to the airline whether for repatriation flight or normal flights. Depending on your location, some Thai embassy application is done by email or by online form.
      Thank you.
