And to answer that question: yes, you can! However, you can only apply to upgrade your package if you are a holder of an Elite Easy Access Thai Elite Visa package.

Among the myriad of Thailand Elite Visa packages on offer, the Elite Easy Access package is one of the more popular options among visitors eager to begin their excursion into the Land of Smiles. With a 5-year renewable, multi-entry visa provided, travelers are able to reside in Thailand long enough to explore all it has to offer without feeling as if they need to commit to their stay long-term. For those who feel like their 5-year stay is too brief, one of the exclusive benefits of having an Elite Easy Access package is being able to upgrade it to one of two 20-year Thai Elite Visa packages:

• Elite Superiority Extension 
• Elite Ultimate Privilege

Given the update on current Thai Elite Visa packages being discontinued and the ascent of new packages starting October 1, 2023, there have been changes made to membership upgrades as well.

When should I upgrade my Thai Elite Visa?

All current Thai Elite Visa options will be coming to an end come September 15, 2023, and information on the new packages will be revealed before October 1, 2023. Given the recent update and news on the discontinuation and revamping of the current Thailand Elite packages, there is now a deadline for Elite Easy Access holders to be able to upgrade to a 20-year plan.

The deadline for all upgrade applications is no longer August 15, 2023. Instead, they must be submitted any time 3 months before the expiry of your Elite Easy Access membership.

So if you are thinking of upgrading from an Elite Easy Access to an Elite Superiority Extension or Elite Ultimate Privilege option, please be advised that you should start your application as soon as possible.

How much do I need to pay to upgrade to a 20-year Thai Elite Visa?

• Elite Superiority Extension: 400,000 THB (VAT included).
• Elite Ultimate Privilege: 1,498,000 THB (VAT included).

What are the conditions when upgrading to a 20-year Thai Elite Visa?

• Elite Superiority Extension package does not require any additional requirements aside from the cost.
• The Elite Ultimate Privilege package requires the applicant to be at least over 20 years of age to be eligible.

How do I apply to upgrade my Elite Easy Access package?

To facilitate your application journey, please take a look at the following steps for upgrading your package:

1. The first step would be to fill out the application form for the desired 20-year Thai Elite package of your choice.
2. Create an email to Siam Legal requesting to upgrade to the Thai Elite Visa package of your choice and attach the following documents:
   • Application form for the upgrade (either the Elite Superiority Extension or the Elite Ultimate Privilege).
   • Copy of your passport profile page.
   • Copy of the current Thailand Elite membership or letter.
   • Updated photo of yourself (must be in color).
   • PDPA form.
   • If currently in Thailand: copy of TM30 and the latest entry stamp on your passport.
3. Once the email has been sent and all the required documents have been attached, Siam Legal will send off your correspondence to the attention of Thailand Immigration. You will then receive an email requesting for a background check.
4. After the background check, an email will be sent over to you with the approval letter and payment instructions. Follow the instructions to process your payment.
5. Send the payment invoice over to Thailand Privilege Card Co,. Ltd via email.
6. You will receive an email from Thailand Privilege informing you of your new package and instructions on how to get it affixed to your travel documents.

NOTE: After upgrading, you will not be able to use the benefits of the Elite Easy Access anymore. More information on what you will gain or lose through upgrading can be detailed down below.

What is the timeline for the Thai Elite Visa upgrade application process?

• Estimated time for the whole application process: 1 to 3 months.
• 4-6 weeks for the background check.
• 30 days for the applicant to pay upon receiving the email with an approval letter and payment instructions.

What happens after you upgrade to an Elite Superiority Extension package?

• You receive an extra 15 years on top of your current 5-year Elite Visa (3 extra sets of 5-year renewable, multi-entry visas).
• Loss of access to the Elite Easy Access transfer service perk. This means that you will not receive a free ride to your hotel from your airport with this package.
• All other perks are the same as the Elite Easy Access.

What happens after you upgrade to an Elite Ultimate Privilege package?

• You receive an extra 15 years on top of your current 5-year Elite Visa (3 extra sets of 5-year renewable, multi-entry visas).
• Added unlimited transfer services from airport establishments (as opposed to 24 times per calendar year offered by Elite Easy Access).
• Healthcare perks:
  • Annual Health Check-Up once every calendar year.
  • Annual Dental Check-Ups twice every calendar year.
• Recreational perks:
  • Free golf green fee and other activities at least 24 times per calendar year.
  • Free massage (either aroma, Thai, foot, or spa massages) at local spas at least 24 times per calendar year with a limited quota.

I do not have an Elite Easy Access yet, is it late for me to apply and then upgrade it?

If you do not have an Elite Easy Access package and want to stay in Thailand for over 5 years, please consider applying for either a 10-year or 20-year visa instead. It is not recommended that you apply for an Elite Easy Access package now for the purpose of upgrading it. This is due to the following reasons:

• The process to upgrade from one package to the other involves a rather lengthy application procedure and applicants will need to go through another background check. Applying for a 10-year or 20-year visa right off the bat saves more time.
• You may want to consider applying for any of the new packages instead given that the current options will be discontinued on September 15, 2023.
