What is a Thai Privilege Visa?

The Thailand Privilege Visa or Thailand Elite Visa is a long-term visa administered by the Thailand Privilege Card Company Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport. The company went through a rebrand hence the release of the four new packages replacing the previous eight Elite Visas.

The goal is to attract high-earning foreigners by giving them 4 different Privilege Visa options to apply for, all of which are long-term multiple-entry visas and the right to live in the country for up to 20 years.

What are the Benefits of Thailand Privilege Members?

The new Privilege Visa will offer multiple entries into Thailand. Also, members can stay in the country without the need to leave every 90 days or go on visa runs, as required by other visa categories.

How Do I Qualify for Thailand Privilege Visa?

You must have and maintain the following qualifications:

  • Foreign passport holder.
  • Except for a negligent offense, you must not have ever been sentenced to prison by a court of law in any country.
  • Having not been declared bankrupt.
  • Without any official evaluation suggesting mental illness, incompetence, or quasi-incompetence.
  • Being allowed to stay in Thailand in accordance with the immigration laws, which means the applicant has no overstay record in Thailand

How to Get a Thailand Privilege Visa?

Submitting Your Application

You can start the application for the Thailand Privilege Visa from anywhere, whether in Thailand or overseas. The process is likely to take between one month to three months to be completed.

All you have to do is email the following to a Thai Elite Visa agent such as Siam Legal.

  • A scanned copy of your passport
  • Signed application form
  • Signed PDPA form
  • Photo of yourself (In front of a white wall)

Background Check

When you submit your Thailand Privilege Visa application, a background check will be conducted and you must meet the following criteria:

  • You haven’t been declared bankrupt by a court.
  • You haven’t been sent to jail in any country except for something you did accidentally.
  • You haven’t been officially declared as someone with mental health issues, incompetence, or almost not being able to do things properly.

Payment of Membership

After passing the background check and being approved, you will get a Welcome Letter from Thailand Privilege. It will tell you the next steps, the benefits of the GOLD membership, and how to pay.

There are several ways you can pay, and they include the following:

  • Credit card
  • Bank transfer
  • Cash
  • Cryptocurrency

Getting the Visa

Members have a few ways to get their visa affixed to their passport, which we will explain below.

1. Upon Arrival

When you arrive in Thailand, you will be able to receive the visa stamp at one of the following airports:

  • Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport
  • Phuket International School
  • Chiang Mai International Airport

2. Thai Embassy or Consulate

You can get your Thailand Privilege Visa by contacting the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country. You will get the stamp fixed on your passport there.

3. Immigration Office

If you are already in Thailand, you can get the visa at the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok. You are able to book an appointment with the Thailand Privilege office or with a certified Thailand Privilege agent, such as Siam Legal, if you need any assistance.

Are Nationality Restrictions for Thailand Privilege Visa Application?

Not every country can apply for a Thailand Privilege Visa. Citizens from the following countries CANNOT APPLY:

  • Asia: North Korea, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka
  • Africa: Central Africa, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome, Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, and Sudan.
  • Middle East: Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, and Yemen
