Really want my opinion. I think Thailand Authority are putting these restrictions in place, just to create economics and not really consider the individuals needs. I, as a foreigner, would very easily self isolate, without the added expense of hotels.

Right now, all entries to Thailand requires a certificate of entry or COE. At the moment, COEs are only issued for air travel and not for land travel.

      Dear Lauren,
      Good day.
For those traveling from Bangkok to Samui, you need to show a negative COVID test result, not more than 72 hrs before the flight’s arrival in Samui.

I was wondering what the law is in reference to quarantine as a minor. Are minors able to fly into Thailand with all required documents (visa etc) and stay in an asq hotel ?

    • May 26, 2021

      Dear Hayden,
      Good day.
Unaccompanied minors are not allowed to travel by air on their own and stay in quarantine without any guardian. I think it is not a smart idea during COVID 19 pandemic.

    • April 14, 2021

      Dear Chase,
Yes, you still need to book for an ASQ hotel to get the COE unless your flight that arrives on July 9th will land directly in Phuket from Singapore or from Doha.

I am fully vaccinated US citizen (Visa Exemption) and was planning to visit as ASQ tourist to Thailand in September 2021 for 30 days. I had submitted Certificate of Entry C. O.E. to Thai embassy, with required uploaded documents, and purchased AXA Covid travel insurance. The Royal Thai Consultant rejected my application due to regulations to enter Thailand might be change according to date of travel. Thai Embassy said to check back 15 days before travel. Do I need C. O. E. to enter Thailand or just T8 form?

    • April 19, 2021

      Dear Mark,
      Good day.
The reason it was rejected is that, the 45-day Visa Exemption is only valid until September 30, 2021. This Visa exemption has not been returned to normalcy. Also, it is too early to apply for COE right now. Please apply 1 months before the flight.
      Thank you.

    Hi Rex,

    Few questions:

Will the ASQ be lifted on July 1st? If so, is this a firm arrangement or is there a possibility that the ASQ (and the 7 days of quarantine) will be required after 7/1/21?

Is proof of vaccination required to enter the country?

It is my understanding that the “Fit to Fly” issued by your (my) doctor is no longer required, as of 4/1/21. Is it possible that this can change?

I am in the US. Would calling the Thai Embassy provide me with the most accurate information? I would rather book a trip that is not subject to change.

    • April 15, 2021

      Dear Ven,
The ASQ will be lifted or no longer required starting January 1, 2022. However, some islands such as Phuket will waive the ASQ requirement for vaccinated travelers if they enter Phuket starting July 1, 2021.
Fit-to-fly certificate is no longer required since April 1, 2021.
      Thank you.

      Dear BK,
Since the arrival date is June 27th, you must quarantine for 7 days and no, you cannot leave the quarantine on July 1st. You must complete the 7-day quarantine. If you would not want to do the quarantine, please arrive on or after July 1st.

      Dear Sajjamann,
      Good day.
Everyone needs a COVID test to enter Thailand. That has not changed. What has changed was, the vaccinated passenger entering Thailand can get a reduced quarantine of 7 days and the un-vaccinated passenger will get 10 days mandatory quarantine.

      Dear Richard,

I do not thing it is insisting to be married. It is insisting on letting only married partners to be allowed to quarantine in the same hotel room. If you are not married but you can provide paperwork that you are common-law partners, then you will be allowed to stay in the same ASQ hotel room.

Having just flown in, in our experience, the COVID -19 negative result needs to be 72-hours from departure, so flying on Wednesday from London this week meant my swab sample could not have been before Monday and my result no later than the morning of my flight. My swab was dated the Monday (AM) and cert was dated the Tuesday (eve) and both were fine by the time we landed in Thailand. What we weren’t prepared for was the requirements of the transit country; in my case, Frankfurt. For example, they required the certificate to be within 48-hours. Fortunately we were within the time frame, however, there was additional paperwork to be completed for that transit/arrival, before we could check in, which we hadn’t realised.

There are COVID tests available at the airport (UK) however, the appointments aren’t available for “urgent” cases so you can end up having to miss the flight (if you don’t have all the paperwork and are asked to get an additional test done).

For info, the process when you arrive is swift and very organised. Temp and doc check. Through to an official for a further check. Then onto immigration and passport control. Afterwards, collect your bags and as you enter the arrival hall you’ll be greeted by someone from your hotel who will take you straight there (where there are also checks and processes – again very swift).
