    Dear Rex,

Are there any requirements for people to complete quarantine in specific areas? For instance, I saw this message on the thaiconsulateireland.com page but I can’t find a reference to this anywhere else.

‘Once you receive the visa, you must book a 14-day quarantine, at your own expense, in the Alternative State Quarantine in Chonburi’

I’d rather quarantine in Bangkok if possible and have heard of other Irish people doing this.

    Kind regards,

    Simon

      Dear Simon,
      Good day.
For those flights arriving in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can book a quarantine hotel in Bangkok or Pattaya.
      Thank you.

      Dear Luc,
As of writing, the proposed vaccine passport or reduced quarantine has not been approved by the Canbinet. You may want to check with us in 2 to 3 weeks.
There are no villa quarantine facilities in Bangkok but there are some ASQ hotels by the river with private balcony.

    • March 19, 2021

      Dear Muhammad,
Yes, the reason why the ASQ is expensive is that it is an accredited facility for those foreigners entering Thailand. You have no other choice but to book an ASQ or ALQ. After you have completed the quarantine, you may book a normal hotel room.
      Thank you.

    Hi,

I am flying to Bangkok in two days (international flight). Is it possible to get an other flight to Phuket and do the quarentine there. If yes, could you please send me the contact details of an agent/hotel/flight company who can help me to book it.

      Dear IBR,
No, it is not possible unless your flight from Bangkok to Phuket is a private jet arranged by your Phuket Villa.

Yes, that is the Day 1 and you will be released on Day 15. I believe that is how the hotels will calculate it.

    Dear Rex,

My wife and my daughter are French citizens and I am Italian. We are in Italy and finally we got our visa from the China embassy in Rome to go back in China where we live and work. We would like to fly in Thailand in the middle of March and have our quarantine in one of ASQ hotels. After the quarantine, we would like to fly in China. Do you think is it possible to do that?

    • March 10, 2021

      Dear Giovanni,
      Good day.
Yes, it is possible for you to travel to Thailand and travel to China after that. You need to apply for a COE or certificate of entry for Thailand. You will be able to apply for the 45-day free visa and COE from the Thai Embassy in Rome. The quarantine at ASQ hotel will be 15 days and you have 30 days to travel around Thailand. Please note that if you are only transiting for a night, we do not recommend that. If you want to stay for 20 to 30 days (including ASQ) that is acceptable.
      Thank you.

      Dear Maureen,
At of today, unmarried couples are still not allowed to stay in the same room. I recommend for you to check each of the listed ASQ Hotels if they manage to change this regulation.

I would love to know if the quarantine in a resort allows me to use the facilities in the resort or does it mean I can just stay on the room. Thanks.

And is it only in Phuket that we can use the facilities such as beach and pools in the resort ?

    • March 10, 2021

      Dear Angie,
      Good day.
If you would book a quarantine villa in Phuket, you will be able to use all the facilities within your own villa, since the villa is only occupied by yourself.

      Dear Francois,
      Good day.
There are ASQ Hotels that would allow you to go to a common area for an hour per day. It will be scheduled accordingly by the hotel depending on the number of days you have spend in the hotel. Some hotels will allow you to go to the garden area or pool area after 5th or 10th day.

      Dear Odj,
The requirements for the COE under visa exemption of 45 days will be the same. The only difference that might happen is the number of days you need to book for quarantine. As of today, we do not know how many days will be the quarantine in June 2021.

Normally your quarantine hotel in Bangkok will issue a letter saying you have no COVID 19. You might use it for your flight to Phuket and for your check in to other hotels. However, you may not be required to show this if you have arrived more than 15 days already in Thailand.

    • February 23, 2021

      Dear Jackie,
I would recommend for you to complete the quarantine before you can leave the hotel. Are you traveling to Thailand just to stay in quarantine hotel for 10 days and fly back to the UK? It is not worth the trouble.
Maybe it is better to travel when the government propose the vaccine passport. You may be allowed to skip the quarantine and spend 10 days in Thailand holidaying.

      Dear Rebbecca,
There is a chance that quarantine will be 7 days if you have vaccinations and 10 days without vaccinations but you have COVID 19 negative test. We have to wait whether this will be implemented in June or perhaps October 2021.

As of now, the COE or certificate of entry is only issued for those traveling by AIR. If you are traveling by air, the flights are only allowed in Bangkok. Therefore, you must do the quarantine in Bangkok.

For APEC Card holders, you are permitted to stay for 90 days upon entry. However, you must obtain a Certificate of Entry or COE from the Thai Embassy. You can apply for the COE online and you need to have COVID 19 insurance, ASQ Hotel booking and flight to Thailand. You also need to download the ThailandPlus application on your mobile.

We live together 100% of the time (I work from home due to Coronavirus) and we travel together to Thailand in February so why should we stay apart for quarantine. Surely this makes no sense – in these circumstances can we stay together in ASQ ? Appreciate your response this time please. Is that a private jet provided by the hotel equipped with PPEs? Please know that you are not allowed to take a public flight from Bangkok to Phuket.
If you want to have quarantine in Phuket you must book the Emirates or Qatar flights that land in Phuket.

I am looking at AQS in Buriram.

I believe there is no direct international airport in Buriram.

If there is no direct flight to Buriram, how do get to Buriram and undergo my 14-day quarantine?

    • November 8, 2020

      Dear Jack,
      Good day.
This would be possible if you or your ASQ hotel in Buriram can arrange a private flight from Bangkok after your international arrival to Buriram Airport and then to your ASQ.
If this is not possible, you need to book an ASQ hotel in Bangkok and then proceed to Buriram on a normal domestic flight.

Hello, my Panrajaa is visiting me in Germany and sadly have to return on November 25th. She was just telling me, that she has to change the flight, because the Lufthansa flight at 29th/30th of November would not qualify it’s passengers for a a state quarantine any longer. She told me that she would have to change the flight – costs of about 1.000 € – or would have to book a ASQ. I couldn’t understand the procedure showing on some websites she has pointed on. Is she right in interpretations the changed rules from starting of November?

    • November 4, 2020

      Dear Guido,
      Good day.
Unfortunately we cannot advise you about the free quarantine for the Thais. We mostly deal with foreigners so we can just advise you about the paid ASQ. I think it is cheaper for you to book her in an ASQ hotel rather changing the flight for 1,000 Euro. The ASQ hotels starts at 27,000-28,000 THB or even less.

Yes, you can fly to Phuket directly if there are flights arriving in Phuket. I believe today there was Emirates flight that landed in Phuket already. If you land in Phuket (without transit in Bangkok), you can undergo 14-day quarantine in the accredited hotels or resorts in Phuket. The ASQ hotels in Phuket are more expensive than those in Bangkok.

    • October 28, 2020

      Dear Riho,

You have to do your 14-day quarantine in Bangkok before you can fly to Chiang Mai. Unless your quarantine hotel in Chiang Mai can arrange a private jet from Bangkok to Chiang Mai with you as the only passenger to avoid any contact with local people.

I believe that you need an international flight to land if Chiang Mai if you wish to make the quarantine in Chiang Mai. If you arrive in Bangkok, you must quarantine in Bangkok because from the airport, you will be brought directly to your hotel by private car. If you land in Bangkok and travel to Chiang Mai, will it be a private plane? There should be no other passengers since you will be a risk to the domestic passengers.
