Travel to Thailand with Incredible Hotel Rates!

With Thailand being one of the most popular countries on the planet with tourists for decades, their hospitality industry is vast and well-developed with more than 10,000 hotels, guesthouses, resorts, and homestays across the country. With fairly minimal financial intervention or support from the Thai government during the pandemic, this has resulted in most of these businesses being hammered hard due to an almost complete lack of international tourists able to visit Thailand because of the subsequent COVID-19 travel restrictions. Thailand travel restrictions along with a myriad of paperwork and quarantine requirements, combined with increased flight prices and many people facing uncertainty in their employment have slammed the brakes on hard for Thailand’s usually booming tourism industry, with a fall of up to 95% in international arrivals at Bangkok.

For the savvy traveler who is patient enough to meet all the Thai visa and COE application paperwork, COVID travel insurance, and Thailand quarantine requirements to enter the country, what this means is that there are some serious bargains available now, with many hotels offering rooms at discounts of up to 70% or even more in some cases. Accommodation in Thailand was already cheap by Western standards but now offers irresistible value due to the extremely intense competition between the hotels for the very few travelers that the country is seeing right now. Despite the Thai baht’s unstoppable rise against most major Western currencies in recent years, in real terms, it hasn’t been this cheap to holiday in Thailand since the ’80s.

COVID Travel Insurance Thailand

Before the COVID pandemic, a comfortable hotel room in lower Sukhumvit would have set you back around 1200-1500 baht a night, but at the moment it will be closer to 500-800 baht, a huge reduction. As a cost-cutting measure, some hotels have even closed off several floors to lower staffing costs until the tourism industry returns to normal if it ever does. But it’s not just Bangkok, with the country’s tourism industry devastated by the effects of Covid and the subsequent travel restrictions, you’ll find amazing deals in Pattaya, Samui, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, and with heated competition between the airlines, you’ll find astonishingly cheap domestic flights too.

Here are some of the best value deals at the moment in the capital.

ASQ Hotels in Thailand

ASQ hotels vary in price from around 26,100 baht to 200k+, with the best value choices coming in at around 30-40k for the entire package. Some important points to consider when choosing your ASQ hotel are whether the room has a balcony that you can access, the quality of the included food, and the Wi-Fi (as even today many Bangkok hotels have spotty wi-fi connectivity in some rooms). You can find a comprehensive list of the ASQ hotels in Thailand with their prices and even customer reviews here. A Notable good deal is Ibis Styles Khaosan for 34,400 THB for 15 nights and 26,100 THB for 11 nights for ASQ booking.

There are current travel restrictions in Thailand so remember you must complete the following before departing for your trip:

Thailand Hotels After Quarantine

Budget Hotels

The Grand Business Inn. Located in the very popular lower Sukhumvit area, the Grand Business Inn has a fantastic location on Soi 11, within walking distance of numerous shopping malls, restaurants, bars, and nightlife options. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with good wi-fi, air-con, bathrooms which have both a bath and a shower, and on the ground floor is an excellent on-site restaurant. The rooms are heavily discounted at the moment to less than 700 baht a night, less than half of the usual rate, and a serious bargain.

Mango Lagoon Place is an excellent little guesthouse in the quaint Soi Rambuttri, a stone’s throw from the infamous Khao San Road, the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Sanam Luang. No-nonsense, but comfortable rooms, friendly staff, great wi-fi, and a recently constructed swimming pool at the front of the building make this a great choice for younger travelers. There are dozens of restaurants within walking distance, plus many street vendors selling all kinds of clothes and souvenirs, and rooms are available from around 800 baht per night.

Mid-Range Hotels

The Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park. Special Rates at 1,000 baht per night (you must stay a minimum of 5 nights to get this rate). This is Bangkok’s largest hotel located on Sukhumvit Road between soi 22 to 24 next to the Queen Sirikit Park. Easy access to the BTS at Phrom Phong station with Emporium Shopping Mall next door. Probably the best choice for the Marriott branded hotels in Bangkok.

The Hilton Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Special rates below 1,300 THB per night seem incomprehensible for a hotel of this caliber. Probably the best location of any of the properties we have listed. About 100 meters from the Phrom Phong BTS and next to the Emporium Shopping Mall. This is our most highly recommended property of all our listed hotels. True luxury, very convenient location, and fantastic price.

Luxury Hotels

The Conrad Residences Bangkok. Now available from as little as 1,500 baht a night, this hotel is located in Wireless Road, right in the heart of Bangkok. With luxurious rooms offering great views of the city, the hotel is fully equipped with a modern gym, tennis courts, and swimming pool, and a sensational on-site restaurant offering both Western and Thai foods. A spot of luxury right in the heart of the capital without the sky-high price tag.

Sathorn Vista, Bangkok (Marriott Executive Apartments) is a fantastic place to stay with fully serviced apartments with a kitchen, dining room, washing machine, and apartments are available online from as little as 2000 baht a night. It’s in a great location, with numerous excellent restaurants and shopping malls only a few minutes away by taxi. True 5-star luxury for only $65 a night.

Thailand Hotel Promotions in 2021

Conclusion

In short, at present, hotel rates in Thailand are a serious bargain. For $50 a night, you can find somewhere luxurious in a prime location, or for as little as $15 a night you can stay in the Ruamchitt Plaza Hotel right in the middle of the action on Sukhumvit Road. If you’re on a tight budget, you can find a bed in a hostel dorm room for under $4 a night at present, which seems hard to believe.

Hotels are desperate for customers at the moment, so you may even be able to haggle on the price, especially if you commit to staying for several nights. Your first port of call should be the online booking sites, even a quick browse will show you some of the deep discounts currently on offer around the country. Whether you’re looking for a dorm bunk or a 5-star serviced apartment, right now your money will go a very long way indeed and is an opportunity not to be missed. The only fly in the ointment is that currently many bars and restaurants are closed, but things are slowly starting to return to normal and you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied during your visit.
