How to Apply for the Certificate of Entry (COE)?

Step 1: Visit the COE online portal/website and register by filling in your details, and upload supporting documents such as a copy of passport, copy of the valid visa, and COVID-19 travel insurance. The Embassy will screen and pre-approve the applicants who meet the requirements. Please check the status of your application after 1-3 working days.

Step 2: The applicants can check their status online if they have been pre-approved. They will be contacted by email if the Embassy requires more documents. The applicants who are pre-approved passengers can then buy flight tickets and book their ASQ or SHA+ hotels. Copy of the flight ticket and the ASQ hotel or SHA+ Hotel booking confirmation has to be uploaded to get the COE. Please check the status of your application after 1-3 working days.

Step 3: When the COE has been approved, the applicants can check their status online and click to download their COE.

How long does it take to obtain the COE?

It is strongly recommended that the applicant spares at least 15 working days before the travel date to apply for the COE. If you do not have a valid visa, it is recommended to secure your visa before applying for the COE.

In case, you need to postpone your trip or change the details of your flight, you need to make a new application for the COE to obtain a new certificate with the new flight details or ASQ hotel details.

What do you have to do after receiving the COE?

Once you have received your COE, you have to prepare the following documents for your trip to Thailand. It will be presented to the airline before departure:

Some airlines do not accept home kit tests so please check specific requirements with the airlines you are traveling with.
  • Copy of Travel insurance policy that covers COVID and no less than 50,000 USD. The policy must cover the whole duration of your stay or the duration of your visa. Please print the insurance certificate and all pages of the terms and conditions on the COVID-19 coverage and medical benefits. I have a question.

I currently live in Thailand on a Non-B visa and want to leave and return with a re-entry permit. I currently hold a Thai COVID insurance policy that covers 500,000 bhat.

Do I really have to buy another, more expensive policy?

    • May 28, 2021

      Dear Madie,
      Good day.
Since you are required to apply for a COE to re-enter Thailand, you must meet the minimum requirement for a COVID 19 Insurance which is 3.5 million THB coverage. Maybe you can avoid the travel for now so that you do not need to submit yourself in applying for a COE.
      Thank you.

I have received my COE. I have two questions.
    1. If your government requirements change as to quarantine times, would someone contact me? I have been vaccinated and am hoping they might reduce the amount of time I must quarantine.
    2. I see PCR and RT-PCR test required prior to my departure. I am having trouble finding the RT-PCR test. Will the regular PCR test be accepted?
    Respectfully,
    Pam

    • May 28, 2021

      Dear Pamela,
      Good day.
The health staff at the Bangkok Airport will amend the number of days for your quarantine. However, we do not see that kind of change right now, not in the next 2 months. All the sources I can find says RT-PCR COVID 19 test, it is important that you get the correct test to avoid being denied to take your flight.
      Thank you.

Is fit to fly/ fit to travel medical certificate still required upon entering Thailand? or the negative covid teat result certificate is enough?

    • June 1, 2021

      Dear Mary Grace,
      Good day.
The fit-to-fly certificate is not required anymore, only the printed copy of the RT-PCR COVID 19 test result will be required.

    Good afternoon Rex,
Your advice was much appreciated regarding COE concerns, as you stated the difficulty seems to be flight availability…
    Can you please clarify,
Am I allowed to apply for the COE before I travel to Philippines (Note: I’m currently in Thailand)
Or do I have to wait until I arrive in the Philippines before I can apply ?

Does the embassy then issue my return date / flight times / airline ?

Also, booking of return flights, does the embassy have a list of available dates that the airlines will be flight to Bangkok ?

The issue I’m having is that I can’t pre-book return flight until I get the COE approval.

    • June 1, 2021

      Dear David,
      Good day.
You can apply for the COE even right now if you already have the MNL to BKK flight and you already have the insurance and ASQ booking.
Right now, there is a shortage of seats for the flight from MNL to BKK so maybe it is not a good idea to go there right now. One option you can fly to Bangkok through Singapore maybe.
      Thank you.

I assume you did not submit the Certificate or Letter. Maybe you only submitted the the receipt or policy wording. All of the people who used the AXA link were given a INSURANCE LETTER for the embassy. Perhaps you have to check your email and also, the sample COVID insurance letter is posted on this page. Please check your email if you have that letter also and send it to the embassy:

Hello, is the “Medical Certificate” a separate requirement from the negative RT-PCR laboratory result? Or is the lab result enough? Do i need a doctor to write a separate certificate? Thanks!

      Good day.
The medical certificate with negative COVID test result or the laboratory result itself are the same. You are no longer to get a doctor’s fit to fly certificate.

Hi Rex, I had written yesterday regarding the COE process. Here are the details:
My COE was pre-approved today. I’ll be arriving into Phuket on July 1 2021, so outside of the Quarantine Period and during the beginning of the Phuket Sandbox Program. The COE website/app is asking for an ALQ or ASQ booking or Organizational Quarantine. I booked my hotel in Patong Beach (The Bloc Hotel) but it isn’t among the ASQ, ALQ or other hotels listed on the dropdown.

It looks like they are giving me about 14 days to upload my flight and hotel bookings which I have. My question is who do we reach out to in order to have the coethailand website updated to include the other Phuket hotels, or add a feature where we can skip all of that since there will be no quarantine? Or, is there another work around we can use currently? Only about 6 weeks out from my trip and I don’t want to lose the work I’ve done so far for the COE. Any insight you can provide will be most helpful. Thank you!

    • May 13, 2021

      Dear Tyler,
      Good day.
The COE website has not be updated and it has not been programmed for the new Phuket SandBox program. Therefore you still need to upload your ASQ Hotel booking. In this case, we recommend for you to wait until there is an official announcement and guideline on how to get a COE for those who will be arriving directly to Phuket. Please check or apply for the COE, 2 to 3 weeks before your flight.
      Thank you.

    Rex,

Your help on this website has been extremely helpful being able to get a quick response I haven’t been able to get from the thai emabassy here in America.

Specifically, your response to my question April 9, “Yes, you are correct. Based on the COVID 19 recovery plan of the government, a vaccinated tourist can enter Phuket and stay for 1 week without quarantine and he or she will be allowed to travel to other parts of Thailand.”

I understand the Covid situation in Thailand is very difficult right now and requirements are changing constantly.

There was an article in the Bangkok Post May 10 I am seeking clairification of, because it seems to be different from your April 9 answer on this forum.

This article May 10 says https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/2112151/phuket-to-reopen-as-planned

“In the third phase, due to begin on Oct 1, the vaccinated tourists in Phuket will then be allowed to travel to Krabi, Phangnga, Surat Thani, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Buri Ram, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Bangkok without any new quarantine requirements.”

It has been my plan to first enter Phuket via Qatar as you recommended Sept 9, spend a week there, then travel to Nakhon Pathom Sept 18.

I understand this is still four months away and things could change, but has the government changed their policy regarding after spending seven days in Phuket, a fully vaccinated US tourist can then travel to the rest of Thailand, including Nakhon Pathom?

Thank you for all your help understanding this!

    Steve Penny

    • June 1, 2021

      Dear Steve,
      Good day.
According to the latest update, you only need to stay in Phuket for 7 days and you are free to travel to nearby provinces or other provinces as long as you meed the entry requirement in that province. For example, during your 7-day stay in Phuket, you will get a COVID test result on the Day 5 or 6 performed at your hotel. You can keep this COVID test result so that when you go to Chiang Mai or another province, you can show the same result and you are able to enter that province.
      Thank you.

    • May 10, 2021

      Dear David,
      Good day.
The COE application will not be a problem. It will definitely be approved as long as you have the marriage visa with re-entry permit. You also need to have COVID 19 insurance that is valid until the expiry of your marriage visa, ASQ Hotel booking and flight to Thailand. The only problem I see is the flight from MNL to BKK. It will be cancelled or kept being canceled as evident to the flights of PAL to Bangkok.

I was pre approved for a COE and uploaded documents 10 days ago. The new 14 days change came out a few days later and my trip is not until end of June. I changed my asq hotel because old one said no available. I was unable to make changes to my application and the consulate said to file a new COE. When you try to file a new COE it says already registered and under consideration. I am unable to provide my new ASQ as I have not been either denied or approved in 10 days.

    • May 5, 2021

      Dear R Lummis,
      Good day.
If the COE was only pre-approved and it was not approved yet, there is a possibility the embassy will reject it and then after that, you will be able to upload the new ASQ pdf file.
If the COE has been approved and you only need to change the number of days of the quarantine, the embassy will automatically change it. If your COE has been approved and you need to change the Hotel Name, you need to ask the embassy to reject it and you can request by email or by phoning them.
      Thank you.

If I have been vaccinated why am I now being put in the same category as someone who is not vaccinated?

Since your arrival is May 30, 2021 you will undergo the 14-day quarantine. All travelers coming into Thailand on May 6 onwards will be required to have a quarantine for 14 days regardless of your nationality or vaccination status.

Please call the Thai Embassy to and request them that you have a new flight arriving May 5th and you need to change your COE but that COE will be issued maybe May 1, so you will not qualify for the 7 and 10 days quarantine anymore. You will do 14 days whether you arrive May 5 or 6.

    • April 30, 2021

      Dear Uriah,
Yes, that is correct. There is no need to change the application or change the COE. Just present the airport staff the updated ASQ Reservation. If your application has not been approved, I am sure the quarantine period in that COE will be 14 days when it’s issued.

I just read everyone has to go back to 14 day quarantine. I applied for my COE a few days ago but I just extended my quarantine at same hotel just extra week. Do I have to cancel COE application and do whole new one or can I just amend it to reflect the extra week added or do I not need to change anything?

    • April 30, 2021

      Dear Uriah,
      Good day.
If your COE will be issued today or has been issued already, you do not need to change it. If your COE will be issued next week, for sure it will reflect the new quarantine period. Ultimately, the staff at the airport will automatically adjust your ASQ period. Your hotel will send you an updated ASQ confirmation letter. Please read the remarks number in your COE, it says the Health Official at Bangkok Airport will decide the number of days of your quarantine. You can assume that it will be 14 days and not less than that.
      Thank you.

My Thai wife are planning to fly back to Thailand in June to live. We will both be fully vaccinated. I have a few questions:
As my wife is a Thai national does she need health insurance including Covid coverage?
Can we book our flights on Scoot or does it need to be SIA?
Can we quarantine together in the same hotel?

    • April 19, 2021

      Dear Flemming,
      Good day.
Your wife does not need COVID-19 insurance. She only needs to obtain a COE which requires ASQ Hotel booking for at least 7 days and COVID 19 test before your flight to Thailand.
For yourself, you need the COE, COVID 19 insurance, ASQ Hotel booking for at least 7 days and COVID 19 test before your flight to Thailand.
Yes, you may book for an ASQ hotel and you can stay in the same room.
For the flight, it does not matter if it is Scoot or SIA, please make sure that the flight has the permit to enter Thailand.
      Thank you.

You will not be able to get a new PIN or 6-digit code since your COE has been issued already and your details are still in the system. You must contact the Thai Embassy and ask them to reject your COE so that you can upload a new flight details and ASQ.
    Thank you.

Hi Rex, quick question about the 72 hour covid test requirement. When does the 72 hours start? I mean which flight – the first one in the US or the last one that connects from Korea into BKK? If we get the test swab done at 09:00 on Sunday and our first flight is at 07:00 but the flight from Korea isn’t until 15 hours later is our test in or out of the 72 hours?

I’m assuming that all of this is based on the time the swab was taken and not when the results were issued.

    Thanks

    • April 12, 2021

      Dear Jeff,
It will be 72 hours before the flight departing from the US. Yes, the 72 hours timeline is for the test being performed.
      Thank you.

      April 12, 2021

Rex, please confirm this for me. I asked the same question to Delta and they quoted back to me the info from the Thai Gov sites “…must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point”. So for our example: Green Bay to Detroit depart 07:00am on the 14th – arrive Detroit at 09:30 (Eastern Time Zone). The flight leaving the US from Detroit departs at 14:00 Eastern Time.

If our test is from 09:20 Central Time than we are within 72 hours if the requirement is the first embarkation point but not within 72 hours if the requirement is the flight that is leaving the US. We’d be at 76 hours.

    • April 13, 2021

      Dear Jeff,
      Good day.
The flight from Green Bay to Detroit is domestic flight so technically you do not need to show any document relating to Thailand to take that flight. I recommend for you to count from the flight that departs from US to be on the safe side.
      Thank you.

      Good day.
Did you receive an email about the 6-digit code? or when you try the “forgot the pin-code” option, does it give you a 6-digit code?
If you do not get 6-digit code when you try these, then your details was not registered.

Hi Rex, Thank you for your quick reply. In my initial submission I did submit the flight numbers exactly as listed from the itinerary… They are American Airlines flights and the flight numbers are a four digit number. I went in to edit personal information and added AA to the numbers because I don’t understand what else they could need. I thought maybe that’s what they were looking for since their example is shown as eg TG655. If that is incorrect I’m afraid it will be rejected once again. But it’s not clear what is needed. Anyway to get more clarity? Thanks!

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Beth,
Yes, you must include the two-petter airline code AA1234 for example. I think you should go for the red button, Confirm Travel Details since you are also providing your flight details, which I assume you are already pre-approved. Do not use the yellow button.
      Thank you.

Thank you very much for your quick response! The help yo are providing here really, really helpful to someone like me trying to understand these constantly changing requirements!

One other question I forgot to ask. I am fully vaccinated with two shots now.

Is it expected the TR 60 day multiple entry tourist visa will once again be available when I apply for a visa after July 1st to travel to Phuket the first week of Sept?

Thanks again Rex! This service here you are providing extremely helpful to get answers to these question in one place!

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Steve,
The 6 months Tourist Visa with multiple entries is currently suspended since the borders are closed anyway. Right now, I cannot say if the multiple entry TR visa will be available this year.
Once you are in Thailand, I think they will give an amnesty for you to extend your stay inside Thailand and there is no need to leave Thailand. Right now the visa “amnesty” for those who are in Thailand is given until May 29th so every can still stay until end of July. I think it will be extended again.
You will be eligible for a 7-day quarantine if you land in Bangkok and no quarantine if you land in Phuket via Doha or Singapore.
      Thank you.

I don’t understand what is incorrect for the flight number…I’ve uploaded flight information. I edited and added AA for American Airlines before the flight number. Could that have been the issue? I did not see an area to add departure flight or request for it. Is that required? Thank you.

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Beth,
      Good day.
You must provide the flight number as indicated in your flight booking and not the codeshare.

Yes, you need COVID travel insurance for your trip to Thailand. It is required for the rest of the year. The only difference if you are vaccinated is the number of days on ASQ. If you arrive in Phuket in July 2021, there will be no quarantine. If you arrive in Bangkok, it will be 7 days.

But what about the COE and the $100,000 medical insurance requirement?

Will the requirement for the COE still be in effect late August or early September entering via Phuket?

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Steve,
      Good day.
Yes, you are correct. Based on the COVID 19 recovery plan of the government, a vaccinated tourist can enter Phuket and stay for 1 week without quarantine and he or she will be allowed to travel to other parts of Thailand.
The COE and COVID 19 Insurance will be required at least until December 31, 2021.

Since there was an option to check the box to agree on ASQ.

I believe when you filled out the COE online form, you were asked if you have ASQ Hotel or not.
If you chose the ASQ, you need to upload your own ASQ hotel reservation.
If you chose, No ASQ, you can ask for the free ASQ.

    Hi Rex,

I am an American currently living in Thailand. I have a work permit and Non-B visa. I want to visit the USA for 2 weeks, and return to Thailand in late April.

Is 2 weeks in the US enough time to get the Certificate of Entry? The article said 15 days, but in another comment here you mentioned that in the US it usually takes 2-3 days. Should I apply for the Certificate of Entry before I leave Thailand then?

Also, since I have a work permit and Non-B visa, I do not need a return flight leaving Thailand, correct?

    thank you for you help!

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Stephen,
      Good day.
If you apply for the COE in Los Angeles, Chicago and NYC the process is within 3 days. If you apply in Washington DC, it will take at least 7 days because they only have 2 staff manning the COE application.
One-way flight is sufficient but your COVID 19 insurance must cover the duration of your stay, in that case, perhaps at least 90 days validity of insurance?

If you are traveling on a Thai passport, you do not need a visa for Thailand. You do not need to do the Declaration Form. COVID Insurance is not require for Thai passport holders since you have a Thai SS. As for the ThailandPlus App, if you do not have a smart phone, you can ask the staff at Bangkok airport if you can fill our a form in lieu of the mobile app.

If you are applying for the Medium Term Visitor-Visa Exemption, it is part of the requirements. Just give yourself time allowance of 2 weeks between the flight and COE application. IS anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence setting up this Thailand Visa process? The process shows they are just lurching from idea to idea with no desire to simplify the process. The number of duplicated steps required is idiotic. Submit online, then via the mail, then apply for a COE. Why can’t the process simply require submission to the consulate one time? I could submit my air ticket at the same time and receive the COE back along with my passport. Also, If you are unfortunate enough to test positive within the required 72 hrs before departure you lose 100% of your quarantine hotel price

    Dear Rex,

Our son will come to Bangkok in late May, and we would like to clarify one of the entry requirements: “Medical Certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID -19 is not detected.”

Does this mean he ONLY needs to get the printed laboratory result – say, from a test center’s website – or does he need BOTH (1) the printed lab result from the test center; and (2) another “medical certificate” signed by a doctor who looks at the printed lab result and then signs another form declaring him COVID-free.

I ask because if it’s option (2) then our son will need to make a doctor’s appointment on the day of travel, after (hopefully) he will have his test results back. But it would obviously be simpler if all he needed was the lab result, not a doctor’s note confirming the lab result.

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Cameron,
      Good day.
The fit to fly certificate signed by a doctor is no longer required. Your son only needs to do the COVID 19 test with a negative result. Normally the test result will be sent by email. He must print the result. A digital copy of it is not acceptable.
Please make sure also that he purchased the correct COVID 19 travel insurance with the proper wording on the certificate.
      Thank you.

      Dear Rex,

Thank you for your reply. I have one follow-up question, about the 72-hours COVID test requirement. Is this strictly and exactly 72 hours before the flight, OR does it mean the test can happen anytime in the 3 calendar days before the flight?

The reason I ask: Our son’s flight departs the US at 9pm on a Saturday. If the requirement is strictly 72 hours, that means he must take the RT-PCR test after 9 pm Wednesday (which means he would probably have to wait until Thursday morning to go to a clinic for the test). But if the requirement just means he can take the test anytime in the 3 days before the flight, then he could get tested earlier – like on Wednesday morning or afternoon. Thank you again for your help.

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Cameron,
I had clients who were refused to board the flight because the COVID test was 15 minutes earlier than 72 hours before the flight (international flight).
I recommend booking a flight that departs end of the week so that the labs and clinics are open before the flights. Do not book for a flight on Monday.

My flight is on the 10th so now I am worried it will not be issued in time as I still have to send my ASQ hotel booking. Will I be able to ensure I get my COE in time for my flight? Thank you!

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Charles,
      Thank you.
If you have been pre-approved and you have uploaded the travel information such as your flight (with return flight), ASQ Hotel booking, and COVID 19 Insurance, they normally issue the COE around 2 to 3 days before the flight. If you have not been pre-approved, please call the Thai Embassy to follow-up.
      Thank you.

Hi, I’m from the Philippines and we usually receive 30 days tourist visa when going to Thailand. Do I still need to apply for a tourist visa in the Thai embassy in Manila? I’ve been trying to call them but no answer. I only intend to stay in Thailand for a month so I don’t really need the STV. Thanks in advance.

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Fabio,
Both RT-PCR and PCR tests will be accepted by Thai authorities. Just choose the test that is faster to receive the result since you only have a window of 72 hours before your flight to have the test and receive the test results.

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Anna,
      Good day.
You can get a visa exemption at Bangkok Airport. But before that, you need to get a COE or certificate of entry under MEDIUM TERM VISITOR-VISA EXEMPTION. You also need to have an ASQ hotel booking, return flight, COVID 19 insurance and COVID test before the flight. Please download our Guide on How to Travel to Thailand in 2021 on this link:

What are the airlines permitted to enter thailand from the Philippines? Is it only Philippine Airlines? They are too expensive. Can I book singapore airlines?

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Shine,
Thai Airways and Philippines Airlines are the only airlines permitted to travel between Manila and Bangkok. I do not think there is a Singapore Airlines flight from Manila to Bangkok.
Yes, you can book a Manila-Singapore-Bangkok flight as long as you the proper permit to transit in Singapore.

If you have been pre-approved, and you need to upload a different flight or ASQ hotel on the second stage, yes, it is possible. Just make sure that the COVID 19 insurance will still cover the duration of the new flight. Also, if you are applying for COE under visa exemption, please upload also the return flight.

      Hi .
It quotes on my COE Note to airlines – flight changes (due to flight delay or cancellation ONLY) are permitted within 72 hours from the original flight time without the need to issue a new Certificate of Entry, provided that all other required documents are still valid.

MY flight is not delayed or cancelled ,I am changing my flight to depart earlier or later within the 72 hours from a different departure destination ,therefore my airline and flight number will change ?

Is the coe change only permitted if your original flight is delayed or cancelled ?

Thank you for your recent reply ,stephen

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Stephen,
      Good day.
In the remarks number 3, it is stated if the flight was delayed or cancelled the same COE can be used. It is a risk to use the same COE for an earlier flight that you have booked. The new airline might ask you to show a proof that the previous airline cancelled the flight.
      Thank you.

      Dear Nando,
      Good day.
You might have chosen the wrong category. You must choose MEDIUM TERM VISITOR- VISA EXEMPTION in order to get a COE under visa exemption. Please do not choose a tourist visa.
If you choose the Visa Exemption, you must upload your bank statement and return flight within 45 days, together with ASQ Hotel Booking and COVID 19 Travel Insurance which must cover the duration of your stay in Thailand.

Despite the airline changing our flight within the 72 hour time period, the Royal Thai Embassy insisted that we have a new COE. Very stressful on the day of departure, but they were very good and arranged it for us.

    • April 9, 2021

      Dear Lyn,
Yes, there are embassies who would not risk it. If they are fast in issuing a new one that is good. However some embassies are busy, therefore they provide a remark in your COE about your cancelled or delayed flights.

Hi Rex, I am from 5he US and I tried to get a 90 tourist visa from Wash DC consulate in March 2021, and it turned out to be a real feat to say the least. After no help from 5he consulate, and the fact my state lowered th3 age for the vaccine I decided to wait to get vaccines first. Thus, I asked them to send my Passport back.

Now to my question, I have a flight to BKK on 4/29 and have decided to just go with the 45 day tourist plan and not need a Visa. But my question is it possible to get a 90 day Visa while I am there? Or maybe convert to an STV, etc? Thanks in advance, Bobby

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Bobby,
      Good day.
Yes, it is possible for you to extend your 45-day visa exemption. You can extend it for 30 days normal extension. You can also extend it for 60 days COVID extension and lastly you can change it to Non Immigrant O visa under retirement, Thai wife or volunteer work or even 90 days extension medical extension.
It is not possible to change it to STV.
Please make sure you will apply for the COE under MEDIUM TERM VISITOR- VISA EXEMPTION. You can also download our Guide on this link:

Which ‘permitted person’ should I use to apply for the COE? I hold a (non-O) visa now but it and the re-entry permit expired in January. Do I apply as a long stay visitor (non-O) or a medium term visitor-TR-i.e. just a tourist visa?

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Jim,
For your incoming trip? Are you coming to Thailand without a visa? If yes, you must choose MEDIUM TERM VISITOR- VISA EXEMPTION. If you have a TR visa sticker, you can use MEDIUM TERM-TOURIST VISA (TR).
You said you have a Non O visa that expired in January 2021, so technically you are not holding it now. It is already expired. So you might be able to apply for a new Non O visa from the embassy or you can use Visa Exemption first and later on you can change it to non O visa in Thailand.
      Thank you.

If you will travel between April and June, yes, you still need to do quarantine for 7 days. You can choose some ASQ hotels that offers 7-day quarantine packages.
If you will travel in July, you will fly from Amsterdam to Phuket through Doha or Singapore, you do not need to do a quarantine. But you must book a normal hotel room in Phuket for at least 7 days.

Yes, you can ask for the Thai Consulate to cancel the COE and you can apply for a new COE and upload the vaccination certificate when you apply for the new COE. Once it is pre-approved and approved, the COE will state if you have 7 or 10 days quarantine.

The visa exemption for your French boyfriend is valid for 45 days and this can be extended for 30 days or 60 days within Thailand. So right now, all he has to do is to apply for the COE under visa exemption program, purchase the COVID 19 insurance, book an ASQ Hotel for 7 or 10 days and the COVID 19 PCR test before the flight.

Being vaccinated is not a requirement to enter Thailand. The main requirement is that the traveler has COE or Certificate of Entry and the travel is willing to undergo a mandatory quarantine for 14 days or the reduced quarantine period of 10 days. All travelers regardless of age are required to have a COVID 19 insurance to enter Thailand under their name. Depending on the nationality and the point of departure, our firm can assist you obtain the COE.

When i try to upload documents, the screen freezes and then shuts down. It has happened about 10 times. I fly on April 15th and just got my Tourist Visa – need to get the COE application in. Any ideas?

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Christopher,
I would recommend for you to upload the files that are not too big in size. Big files might cause the system to shut down and your attachments will not be attached or uploaded.
      Thank you.

Hi. Can USA citizens who are vaccinated travel to Thailand for business without quarantine on arrival? We’re thinking of traveling in June. Thank you for your help!

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear DT,
If you will fly to Phuket and you arrive in July 2021, yes, that is possible not to do quarantine. But you need to book a normal hotel room for 7 days within Phuket also before you can go out of the island.
      Thank you.

    • March 24, 2021

      Dear Haruki,
      Good day.
Yes, you are correct. The COVID Travel Insurance is only required for foreigners entering Thailand. The returning Thai nationals are not required to have the COVID insurance.
      Thank you.

Hi there! I just wonder what if we can not have the vaccine due to allergies? I have not read any about this, for many foreigners have allergies and we wanted to travel for tourism to Thailand. Can you suggest us what to do? This must be put into discussion also. Please let us know. Thanks

    • March 24, 2021

      Dear Grace,
      Good day.
It is alright if you do not have COVID 19 vaccination. You only need to follow the mandatory quarantine of 10 to 14 days depending on your country of origin and you have a COVID 19 PCR negative test result.
      Thank you.

Fit to Fly, . has that definitely been removed from the requirements as long as you have a Covid Free medical certificate RT PCR. ?

Is this posted on any official site?

    Thank you

    • March 24, 2021

      Dear Kevin,
Yes, that would be the case starting April 1st. It is no longer mandatory to have a separate Fit-to-Fly certificate. In most cases, COVID 19 test clinics also provides the fit-to-fly certificate in the same COVID 19 medical certificate.
      Thank you.

I have to go to Thailand to find my deaf mute fiancee in the month of April and bring her to the USA that I need to enter Thailand

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Walter,
Yes, you can apply for the free visa and COE.

Hi Rex! Sorry this is responding to another message. My mom is going to be getting her vaccine this week. What are requirements if a thai national is vaccinated and returning back to the country? Does she have to show proof of insurance policy? I also see that you don’t have to complete a fit to fly if you can provide a negative covid test with 3 days of departure?

    • April 19, 2021

      Dear Caroline,
      Good day.
The Thai national returning to Thailand is not required to provide COVID 19 Insurance. The Thai national is only required to obtain the COE, book an ASQ Hotel for 7 days and to have COVID 19 PCR test before the flight.
      Thank you.

    Dear REx,
I just got the COE approved today. When I tried to register for the ThailandPlus apps, it seems unsuccessful, despite the correct COE Code and Reference Code provided repeatedly. Do you know what’s wrong? or do i miss any step?

    • April 6, 2021

      Dear Huat,
Yes, there has been technical issues with the ThailandPlus app. When you arrive at Bangkok Airport, just ask for assistance from the staff if the same problem persists.

    Hi Rex

Do you know if a return flight is required for CoE? I have a one-way flight, as well as work visa in order to start work in Thailand in May. Will I need to book a flight out of Thailand in order to receive CoE approval?

    Kind regards
    Luke

    • April 19, 2021

      Dear Luke,
      Good day.
If you are applying for the Visa Exemption and COE, yes, the return flight within 45 days is required. If you have a Non Immigrant visa and you are applying for the COE, you do not need a return flight since it is a non immigrant visa.

I am in kenya and planning on departing late April. I have left from here last Nov. and stayed at a ASQ in BKK. I have a marriage visa. My situation is the same as before with the difference of I now have had the Covid vaccine, Will the quarantine requirements be the same as last November?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    • April 28, 2021

      Dear Jerry,
      Good day.
Yes, the quarantine will still be 14 days since you are flying from Africa even if you are already vaccinated. You need to apply for the COE, book an ASQ hotel to do a quarantine for 14 days and also provide a COVID 19 insurance.
      Thank you.

    Hello Mr. Rex,

I am wondering if you know, with the new guidelines that Thailand is putting in place this April, will foreigners still need a COE in order to enter the country? And the insurance will still be necessary?

    Thank you for your answer!

    • March 23, 2021

      Dear Rachel,
Yes, the COE will be required and the insurance will be required also. Starting April 1, the only difference is the quarantine days. It is 10 days instead of 14 days so you may have to check with your ASQ hotel about the reduced number of days. The fit-to-fly certificate will not be required as long as you have COVID 19 medical certificate with negative result.
      Thank you.

    Hi Rex

I’m travelling to Thailand in the next month to begin teaching. I will be arriving on a work visa. Do you know if I need a return flight for CoE approval? I only have a one-way flight, as my work visa will be extended to 1 year after I arrive.

    Thanks and kind regards
    Luke

    • April 28, 2021

      Dear Luke,
      Good day.
If you will be entering Thailand on a 90-day Non Immigrant B visa, you do only need to show a one-way flight. The return flight is not required. You need to have a COVID Insurance of at least 90 days, so that means you can have 90, 180 or even 365 days insurance policy. You also need to book an ASQ hotel for either 7 or 10 days depending if you are are vaccinated or not.
      Thank you.
