Retiring in Thailand

Living in Thailand

My uncle would like to live in Thailand. He had worked there several years ago. He would like to move to Thailand since he is going to retire next year. He is 53 years old now. Is there any method to apply to live in Thailand.

As your uncle has reached the age of 50 and has retired, the appropriate visa would be the Retirement visa. It is a type of visa which is good for a year and applicable for those aged 50 and above. In order to qualify for this type of visa, the applicant must be able to show financial evidence being a Thai bank account showing THB 800,000 which has been in the account for at least 2 months prior to application or a monthly income of at least THB 65,000.

This can be from rental payments back home or a pension. He would first have to apply for a 90 day non-immigrant OA visa, then have this visa extended for 1 year in Thailand.
