What is Thailand Pass?

The Thailand Pass system is a free-of-charge web-based system designed to make the documentation process of travelers entering Thailand more efficient and faster. The Thai Pass QR code is required for all travelers entering Thailand.

The application will be approved by the central authorities in Thailand and not the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate. Therefore, please allow sufficient time for approval after registering for the Thailand Pass.

The goal of the system is to help support the country’s “Ease of Travel” system after it reopens and to expedite filling out information and uploading travel documents.

Who Can Apply for the Thailand Pass

Thai Pass is required for all travelers entering Thailand, whether they be Thai nationals or foreigners.

From May 1, 2022, Thai Pass application and approval requirements will depend on a traveler’s vaccination status.

  1. Fully Vaccinated travelers will be able to enter Thailand under the No Quarantine program. A vaccinated traveler does not need to book 1 night’s accommodation in an approved SHA+ hotel or complete an RT-PCR test on arrival.Fully vaccinated foreigners will need to provide proof of COVID insurance and their vaccination certificate when applying for Thailand Pass. Thai Nationals only need to provide their vaccination certificate as insurance is not required. Unvaccinated children under 18 years old may travel with vaccinated parents without quarantine. The parents must include the children’s personal information in the application.
  2. Unvaccinated travelers will have 2 options for entering Thailand:
    • Unvaccinated travelers will be able to enter Thailand under the existing 5-day Alternate Quarantine program; OR
    • Unvaccinated travelers will be able to enter the No Quarantine program by completing an RT-PCR test and uploading the result into their Thai Pass application. The test cannot be older than 72 hours before their departure date.

What are the Requirements for the Thailand Pass

To support “Ease of Travel’, entry requirements have been eased from May 1, 2022. You can now apply with fewer documents and obtain a QR entry code faster.

The document requirements are listed below.

Vaccinated travelers (No Quarantine)

  • A certificate of full (2 doses) vaccination or vaccine card
  • A medical insurance policy with at least USD$ 10,000 minimum coverage

Unvaccinated travelers (No Quarantine)

  • Your passport profile page
  • An RT-PCR test result no more than 72 hours before your departure date
  • A medical insurance policy with at least USD$ 10,000 minimum coverage

Proof of Vaccination

For vaccinated travelers entering under the No Quarantine program, you must prepare your vaccination certificate or card. The file must be in JPG, JPEG, or PNG.

For unvaccinated travelers who would like to enter Thailand under the No Quarantine program, instead of submitting a vaccination certificate or card, you must submit a negative result of the RT PCR COVID-19 test issued within 72 hours before traveling to Thailand.

Flight Details

The next step of the process is to book your flight to Thailand. Although it is not required to submit a proof of flight booking, the Thai Pass system will require the following information of your flight:

  • Country of Departure
  • Date of Arrival in Thailand
  • Flight Number
  • Estimated Exit Date from Thailand

Hotel Booking or Address  in Thailand

The Thailand Pass system does not require travelers to provide a hotel booking as well. However, you will be required to provide an address in Thailand. If you will be staying in private accommodation you may provide the address.

For travelers staying in a hotel, we highly recommend using Agoda.com when booking your hotel:

How to Apply for Thailand Pass

The Thailand Pass System is a QR code generating system. To obtain a QR entry code or Thai Pass ID, travelers will have to:

  • Register at the official web portal
  • Input personal details
  • Upload the required documents per their vaccination status
  • Receive a confirmation email after registration (within seconds after registration)
  • Wait for the approval (normally within 1-3 days)

And if approved, you will receive an email with your QR Entry Code or ID, which you will use upon entering Thailand.

1. Apply for Thailand Pass by Yourself

You may apply for the Thailand Pass directly on the MFA website: https://tp.consular.go.th/

If you have already applied by yourself and you need to check the status, please go to: https://tp.consular.go.th/en/check-status

If you already applied and you still did not get the QR code or you were rejected, please email: [email protected]

2. Thailand Pass Application Service by Siam Legal

Application for the Thailand Pass is free-of-charge and you do not need any assistance to apply for it. However, there may be instances where some individuals may voluntarily choose a paid service provider such as a law firm to provide consultation, assist them to prepare their documents, and submit them on their behalf.

Individuals may encounter problems with their documents that are not being uploaded properly or are deemed unacceptable to the Thai embassy or consulate. This may cause delays or rejection of your application, so it may be helpful to retain a service provider to assist you with the application. These paid Thailand Pass services offered by Siam Legal are listed below.

Recommended Thailand Pass Insurance

Based on experience, the common problem for the applications being rejected and travelers being denied boarding their flight is that some insurance policies are not properly worded.

Your COVID 19 insurance must expressly state that it covers up to $10,000 USD medical expenses, including COVID 19 related incidents, and it must cover your whole stay in Thailand.

The Thai Pass system only accepts one attachment therefore it is important to have a one-page Certificate of Insurance with all the required information. To purchase the most reliable insurance that has never had a problem with the Thai Embassy or airline, please click the link below:

    • May 5, 2022

      Hi Al

You can still apply for Thailand Pass without uploading the QR code from your vaccine. Right now, Thailand Pass approval has been faster to get approved than before even if you don’t have the QR. If you want to apply for Thailand Pass, you can visit this link, : https://tp.consular.go.th/

Should I add the latest vaccine certificate that includes all 3 doses in both the fields for 1st and 2nd dose on thai pass website? Also, same 3rd dose qr code from the latest certificate?

    • April 20, 2022

      Hi rcool,

You can add your booster dose details while applying for Thailand Pass too! If the QR code is still the same, it is better.

I bought 2 separate flight tickets, one from Bangkok Airways from Cambodia to Bangkok, and another from Elal to Israel from Bangkok after 4 hours. Do you know if it will be possible for me to pick up my suitcase independently and then check in the next flight without all the bureaucracy of the Thai Pass? Do you know if it is possible? Or know what can be done?
Thank you so much for your help!

    • April 20, 2022

      Hi Yafit,

In that case, you will need a Thailand Pass to enter the country, and you need to undertake Test and Go for one night.
Because as you are booking separate flights you need to check in with the airline again.

Is it possible to get the Covid insurance as well as the Thai pass before leaving? Should I apply for a permit of re entry besides the Thai pass? Thank you.

    • April 20, 2022

      Hi Ismael,

Since the government is still consideration of cancelation of Test and Go in May, even though all the authorities are still being silent about their final decisions, you can apply for Thailand Pass at least 7 days before your flight in July. That will work better.

My friend had just recovered from Covid with a discharge memo given by Singapore Ministry of Heath. Can he still be able to travel to Bangkok on this friday if he is still covid positive? Will he be quarantine even tested positive during PCR that is conducted by the SHA plus hotel.

Hope to receive your reply soon

    • April 20, 2022

      Hi Wei Ming,

In this case, your friend needs to inform the hotel beforehand with official documents as proof. The hotel can contact the hospital to be aware of your friend’s situation.
Most hotels have different policies regarding quarantines, please check with the hotel for accurate responses.

    Hello Sir,

We have a situation that, we will arrive Phuket on 30th April and we have booked our hotel in Krabi and also they have booked the airport transfer and we have separately booked RTPCR test as well.

But when applying for Thailand pass under the booking ID of Hotel it says that Airport transfer and RTPCR is not included as Airport transfer has a different booking ID. So can we simply provide our documents/ receipts for relevant documents? Should that be fine?

Also as we have to book for Day 5 as well then also its asking for one Booking ID only? Please let us know.

    • April 19, 2022

      Dear Akshay,

That is alright. It won’t be a problem. Just make sure that you attach copy of the RT PCR test receipt in your application and make sure that your Krabi hotel has a copy of your RT PCR receipt. During the Thailand Pass application, it is only required to submit the Day 1 booking.

      Dear Yap,

Yes, you are still required to under go an RT PCR test. If you tested positive and the result is just a remnant of your previous infection and you have a proof of recovery, you will be released.
If the positive RT PCR test result concludes that it is a new COVID infection, you will be isolated.

We are 2 adults(me and my wife) with 3 children under 18
why it’s not possible to apply once to the entire family?
first, I was applying for me and the children and I did not find the option to add my wife… so she had to apply for herself separately.
my question is if only one of us needs to fill in the details about our children or we had to do it twice. once for me and one for my wife’s application?
I fill the children’s details only in my application and my wife’s application was done only for her without the children’s deatales.
    I hope it’s o.k….

    • March 22, 2022

      Dear Shimon,

Children under 18 are allowed to be traveled with legal guardians (which includes parents), so you could apply for your children with you. While your wife, who is an adult, had to apply individually.

You can apply for Thailand Pass right now under Sandbox or Quarantine Program. If you are looking at getting a Test and Go Thailand Pass, you need to apply on February 1. It is a risk to take if you will travel on February 4th. But I think you have a good chance of receiving it on time if you have a complete set of documents in correct format and your vaccination document has acceptable QR code.

    Hey!

We just booked an international flight to phuket with a transit in bangkok. The domestic flight from bangkok to phuket is operated by bangkok airways and the flight number is PG5279 (03.02.2022, 17:10 – 19:15).
We also booked a 7 night stay at the SHA-extra+ “Krabi Heritage Hotel” in the Krabi sandbox. Furthermore we booked the transit from Phuket airport to the hotel and the 2 necessary RT-PCR-Tests (1 on arrival and one on day 5-6).

Now the question: We just tried to register for the ThailandPass and recognized that we can not choose our booked hotel. I think because we tried to register the Survanabhumi (BKK) airport as the first arrival port in Thailand. In that way we are only able to choose hotels in the Samui sandbox. How can we register in the right way? Because a domestic flight to Phuket international airport is allowed, when its the flight number PG5279, right? So we should be able to choose our hotel during the registration for the Thailand sandbox.

Another short question: Should we type in the international flight number to Bangkok in the registration for ThailandPass (first arrival port in Thailand) or the domestic flight to Phuket (PG5279)?

Thank you really much, we hope that you can help us!

    • January 24, 2022

      Dear Florian,

The sealed flight from BKK to Phuket will officially start on February 1 therefore it will come into the system on that day. Another option, you can register now, but use Phuket as airport of arrival and use PG5279 as flight number.

      Dear Marcus,

Since these hotels are working with a local hospital their Test and Go package is not listed on Booking.com or Agoda.com It is recommended for you to contact or book directly with the hotel.

      Dear Nazan,

If you apply for the Thailand Pass right now, you need to have 7 Days Quarantine in Bangkok before you can go to other parts of Thailand. Or you can wait and apply on February 1, you can book for the Test and Go program.

Hello is it possible to move from one SHA+ hotel to another during first 7 days? If yes how to proof it while making Thailand pass?
From what i see you can apply only one document of your hotel reservation.
    Thank you for your time.

    • January 18, 2022

      Dear Kajetan,

Travelers to Krabi, Phang-Nga, or Phuket can change accommodation twice within the first 7 days (can book 2 different hotels) within the province.

Travelers to Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan and Ko Tao can change accommodation three times within the first 7 days (can book 3 different hotels). But they must stay the first night on Ko Samui and must receive a negative result for their first RT-PCR test, before being able to change accommodation to other hotels on either Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan or Ko Tao. Or they can choose to book 3 different hotels on Ko Samui alone.

For convenience in applying for Thailand Pass, just book one hotel for the whole 7 nights.

      Thank you.

You need to contact the hotel and ask them to enumerate all the names of the applicants in the Hotel Confirmation Letter.

Australians are foreign nationals. You may retain our service for Thailand Pass 100 USD fee. At the moment, the Thailand Pass available is Sandbox and Quarantine.

      Dear Dylan,

There is no need to reapply. Once you are inside Thailand, you only need to make sure that your entry visa or entry stamp is updated and not overstay. if you need to stay longer, you can visit the local immigration office to extend your stay.

      Dear Ellie,

You need to print your Thailand Pass QR code and you are required to have a negative result of your COVID 19 RT PCR test taken within 72 hrs before the flight. It must be an RT PCR test as required by airlines and by Thailand government.

The Thailand Pass is valid for the date of arrival stated in the Thailand Pass. In case of flight delay or cancellation, you can still use it up to 3 days after the original date of arrival.

I have been approved under the Test & Go and received my Thai-pass. I am required to obtain a negative RT-PCR 72 hours before travel. Will a Rapid Antigen Test also work (results given the same day). There is a backlog of RT_PCR tests here in the USA and I may not received the results of the RT-PCR test 72 hours prior to my fight departure.

Anyhow, my question is, Can i continue with my journey to Bangkok but get on a flight to Phuket without leaving the Airport and avail of the Phuket Sandbox program? meaning can i make my arrival in Bangkok Airport a transit visit but never leave airport and continue straight to Phuket? This will be a different airline provider to my initial one.

The [email protected] seems to be for IT problems, sending messages to it regarding your application, does not work. It seems you have to re-apply for every change to your application, this must be causing a lot of churn.

Calling the help line +66 2 572 8422, will involve a long wait, and your call may drop out before you get through. The other numbers +66 65 205 4247 etc. do not work.
