Application for the Thailand Pass is free of charge and you do not need any assistance to apply for it. However, there may be instances where some individuals may voluntarily choose a paid service provider such as a law firm to provide consultation, assist them to prepare their documents, and submit them on their behalf. What to do upon entry to Thailand?
When entering Thailand, the foreigner or non-Thai national is requested to follow the Thai authority’s guidelines for preventing the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:
- Present the Thailand Pass QR code to the Thai authorities at the airport of arrival
- Present the COVID-19 PCR test result certificate
- Present the completed and signed Declaration Form
- Present the COVID 19 travel insurance policy
- Present the valid non-immigrant visa and work permit (if applicable)
- The foreign national will be subjected to a mandatory state quarantine at a government-designated ASHQ Hotels under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health at his or her own expense.
AGODA.com only has SHA and not ASQ. Please advise.
All of these hotels are acceptable when you travel to Thailand.
Can i directly book for quarantine with the hotel listed in ASQ or through hotel.com
Right now, only Agoda.com has the accreditation to book and not Hotel.com
Really want my opinion. I think Thailand Authority are putting these restrictions in place, just to create economics and not really consider the individuals needs. I, as a foreigner, would very easily self isolate, without the added expense of hotels.

Is it possible to cross the land border from Vientiane to Nong Kai with the correct paper work and do quarantine in Nong Khai?
Right now, all entries to Thailand requires a certificate of entry or COE. At the moment, COEs are only issued for air travel and not for land travel.
can i travel to koh Samui after i complete my ASQ In Bangkok if we are unvaccinated. what are the rules that apply once we get to koh samui do we then have to do another ASQ. we arrive to thailand around the 25th of june. thank you in advance
For those traveling from Bangkok to Samui, you need to show a negative COVID test result, not more than 72 hrs before the flight’s arrival in Samui.
Hi I am from India I wish to travel Thailand in mid june for one month what are the requirement I have not been vaccinated .
The Thai Embassy is closed in India so the issuance of the visa and certificate of entry is not possible at this time.
I was wondering what the law is in reference to quarantine as a minor. Are minors able to fly into Thailand with all required documents (visa etc) and stay in an asq hotel ?
Unaccompanied minors are not allowed to travel by air on their own and stay in quarantine without any guardian. I think it is not a smart idea during COVID 19 pandemic.
Hello, me and my girlfriend are fully vaccinated and plan to arrive on July 9th. Will we still have to book an asq before we go for our COE? If not what other things can be foregone?
Yes, you still need to book for an ASQ hotel to get the COE unless your flight that arrives on July 9th will land directly in Phuket from Singapore or from Doha.
I am fully vaccinated US citizen (Visa Exemption) and was planning to visit as ASQ tourist to Thailand in September 2021 for 30 days. I had submitted Certificate of Entry C. O.E. to Thai embassy, with required uploaded documents, and purchased AXA Covid travel insurance. The Royal Thai Consultant rejected my application due to regulations to enter Thailand might be change according to date of travel. Thai Embassy said to check back 15 days before travel. Do I need C. O. E. to enter Thailand or just T8 form?
The reason it was rejected is that, the 45-day Visa Exemption is only valid until September 30, 2021. This Visa exemption has not been returned to normalcy. Also, it is too early to apply for COE right now. Please apply 1 months before the flight.
Will the ASQ be lifted on July 1st? If so, is this a firm arrangement or is there a possibility that the ASQ (and the 7 days of quarantine) will be required after 7/1/21?
Is proof of vaccination required to enter the country?
It is my understanding that the “Fit to Fly” issued by your (my) doctor is no longer required, as of 4/1/21. Is it possible that this can change?
I am in the US. Would calling the Thai Embassy provide me with the most accurate information? I would rather book a trip that is not subject to change.
The ASQ will be lifted or no longer required starting January 1, 2022. However, some islands such as Phuket will waive the ASQ requirement for vaccinated travelers if they enter Phuket starting July 1, 2021.
Fit-to-fly certificate is no longer required since April 1, 2021.
I am fully vaccinated and plan to arrive on June 27th 2021 in Phuket. Will I need to spend a full 7 days in quarantine or will I be permitted to exit quarantine on July 1st?
Since the arrival date is June 27th, you must quarantine for 7 days and no, you cannot leave the quarantine on July 1st. You must complete the 7-day quarantine. If you would not want to do the quarantine, please arrive on or after July 1st.
i AM PLANING GOING TO Thailand ON MAY 6TH AND MY FIANCEEA WILL BE ARRIVING ON MAY 12TH, my QUESTION IS : ARE WE ALLOWED TO SHARE SAME ROOM? i HAVE BEEN vaccinated AND i LIVE IN Florida USA and SHE LIVES IN Cebu Philippines.
Since you are not arriving together and you are not legally married, you are not allowed to quarantine in the same room.
Staring from April 1, 2021, the mandatory quarantine will be reduced to 10 days, for most travelers, may I ask that how many times do they have the COVID -19 test ?
Everyone needs a COVID test to enter Thailand. That has not changed. What has changed was, the vaccinated passenger entering Thailand can get a reduced quarantine of 7 days and the un-vaccinated passenger will get 10 days mandatory quarantine.
So can I not share a room with my friend who is going to travel with me? To reduce cost?
Yes, only married couples are allowed to quarantine in the same room.
I’m looking for a quarantine hotel in Chiang Mai.
At the moment the only ASQ hotel in Chiang Mai is The Muk Lagoon Hotel. If you wish to quarantine in this hotel, your international flight must land in Chiang Mai. if your flight lands in Bangkok, you must quarantine in Bangkok or Pattaya.
Can I share a room with my child? She is 16 years old. We have the same surname.
Yes, you may book a family room. It depends on the hotel what would be the arrangement.
I live and work in Thailand and have a non-B visa. I would like to travel to the USA for the month of July. I will get vaccinated in the USA. When I return to Thailand in August, do I need to quarantine? Do I need to purchase covid insurance?
Yes, you will quarantine for at least 7 days when you return to Thailand in August. Yes, you need to have a COVID 19 insurance covering the validity of the visa that you have. It could be 3, 6 months.
I am from the UK- If I become vaccinated in my home country and show documentation can I be allowed in the country with out quarantine?
As of right now, vaccinated travelers are still required to do a quarantine for 7 days at an ASQ Hotel.
We can’t seem to find a direct flight to Phuket so we have a transit in Bangkok. Do we quarantine in Phuket or Bangkok?
If you would like to quarantine in Phuket, you may book a flight that flies from Singapore to Phuket. If the only flight you can find is transiting or landing in Bangkok, yes, you need to do your quarantine in Bangkok also.
Hey . I wanted to know if any hotel accepts unmarried couples?
Yes, the ASQ Hotels will accept unmarried couples but you need to book two separate rooms.
Why do you insist on travelers being married? I live with my partner, will fly together with my partner and yet on arrival I cannot quarantine with my partner. That’s a deal breaker for me and will skip Thailand until you move into the 21st century.
I do not thing it is insisting to be married. It is insisting on letting only married partners to be allowed to quarantine in the same hotel room. If you are not married but you can provide paperwork that you are common-law partners, then you will be allowed to stay in the same ASQ hotel room.
Hello, my local airport flight departs in the afternoon, and after an overnight layover, my international flight to Thailand departs the following afternoon. For purposes of the 72 hours pre-departure limit for covid testing, which flight is considered the departure flight? Thank you.
The COVID test and Fit to Fly must be conducted within 72 hours prior to your international Flight.
Having just flown in, in our experience, the COVID -19 negative result needs to be 72-hours from departure, so flying on Wednesday from London this week meant my swab sample could not have been before Monday and my result no later than the morning of my flight. My swab was dated the Monday (AM) and cert was dated the Tuesday (eve) and both were fine by the time we landed in Thailand. What we weren’t prepared for was the requirements of the transit country; in my case, Frankfurt. For example, they required the certificate to be within 48-hours. Fortunately we were within the time frame, however, there was additional paperwork to be completed for that transit/arrival, before we could check in, which we hadn’t realised.
There are COVID tests available at the airport (UK) however, the appointments aren’t available for “urgent” cases so you can end up having to miss the flight (if you don’t have all the paperwork and are asked to get an additional test done).
For info, the process when you arrive is swift and very organised. Temp and doc check. Through to an official for a further check. Then onto immigration and passport control. Afterwards, collect your bags and as you enter the arrival hall you’ll be greeted by someone from your hotel who will take you straight there (where there are also checks and processes – again very swift).
